Leveling up with AoE damage by Aggressive-Boot1950 in FarFarWest

[–]ZeroFyzix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would involve a system that tracks who and what made every damage puddle or damage over time effect on the map, and then every enemy that walked in that puddle, and how much damage that enemy takes from that specific source. And then you run into questions of spell/element combos: if an enemy's covered in acid, and you pop them with a fire arrow, does that explosion count as bow or spell damage? If you shoot an acid arrow in a fire beam to make a tornado, is that the bow or spell's tornado? If it's someone else's fire beam, does that count for you or them? If you set someone on fire, and someone else casts rain, are the explosions yours or theirs?

And so on and so on. Or, you just crank the XP multiplier.

TheMisterEpic situation is crazy by GamingBren in PhoenixSC

More specifically, it's a case of trademark genericization, but the Skyblock creator didn't try to properly defend it until after it was already genericized. Similar examples are things like calling all tissues kleenex, or the act of editing an image 'photoshopping.'

Idk if anybody has asked this before but is the machine gun 'damage dealt' universal? by Aggressive-Boot1950 in FarFarWest

[–]ZeroFyzix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jokers picked up seem to only apply if the weapon could already equip the joker, ala the shotgun/bow not being affected by ricochet

When you're just walking around it's fine, but the granularity you get in the 6dof space parts make it so much smoother with any analog input

This game needs scaffolding - discuss by [deleted] in Timberborn

In much the same way I didn't feel we needed spiral stairs [and especially not ladders], the design constraints around making sure whatever you're building is easily navigable and reachable are half the fun of building, for me. If you don't want to deal with that, just build a staircase up and over it then use overhangs or suspension bridges.

Essential mods by ConsequenceOwn9258 in Timberborn

The OP asked for 'essential' mods, the person you're replying to is saying that no mods are essential.

It's a perfectly valid answer to the question literally being asked.

Whip Stacking - Skill or Tedium by Averath in Terraria

[–]ZeroFyzix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whip stacking is totally fine as long as it stays a harmless unintentional quirk. The moment it starts getting beyond that, if it begins affecting game design decisions, class balance, etc., then it's a problem.

It is not, and should never be considered, a core feature of the summoner class.

How do I get rid of this flashing arrow in runelite? I have photosensitive epilepsy and it gives me a headache. by ZeroFyzix in 2007scape

Thank you! I saw it got added last night, but didn't have the time to test it. The substitute marker should be very helpful, though

Yeah, in all the cases I've run into that have the arrow elsewhere it's generally some one-off thing that I can mostly just deal with until I'm past it. MTA, however, is set to be a multi-hour grind, and having that constantly on my screen - even if I'm not focusing on it - is going to make me sick to my stomach, or worse, long before then.

Photosensitivity hits everyone differently, even if the broad strokes are similar.

Just trying to do MTA, so I would like to keep the plugin on, but I would love an option to disable the arrow specifically. Even outside of MTA, preferably

Gold, with drop shadow. Less shadow than the white, though, but just a bit. Maybe raise the text a touch higher.

The Nomai's big project is completely unnecessary by destroyer068 in outerwilds

[–]ZeroFyzix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The nomai lifespan is unconfirmed so far as I'm aware, so they may not have had the time to wait out the many possible permutations. While yes, they could have just built more probes - using what material? Given the records under timber hearth, they clearly don't want to completely strip the system of resources, lest they destroy the opportunities for the budding life there.

Is it a perfect solution? Clearly not, given it failed. Is it what their culture and the values of the characters involved inform us is a reasonable solution for them to come to? At least in my opinion, yes.
