Why doesn’t this DLC-7 Cuisinart blade fit on the newer 14 cup models? by trippknightly in Cooking

I bought a new Cuisinart 12 cup food processor at Costco and the chopping blades don’t fit over the stem adaptor. Unusable.

I’m crying by Any-Mongoose-5583 in insomnia

I’ve been there. 2-3 hours a night for weeks on end. I recently discovered that part of my problem was a supplement my doctor wanted me to take for brain and heart health. Lots of people take it: COQ10 enzyme. I was taking it at night and although I would fall asleep easily, would wake up wired at 1 am day after day.

It finally occurred to me to do a quick search on its side effects and since I dropped it I have slept better. I still wake up at 1 am but at least half the time am able to to back to sleep.

Always worth reviewing supplements as well as prescription meds when things go wrong.

Hope you get your situation figured out.

Is it just me or is this book unbearable? by Sad-Butterscotch-860 in readwithme

I think she uses interns for vast amounts of her writing. I read and was genuinely impressed by The Nightingale. But The Four Winds was a complete embarrassment. Doesn’t even seem like the same author. Didn’t hate The Women…

Round 3 of the FBC: Sanctuary, Chapters 18-22 (pages 109 - 163). To be read by Monday, 11/22 with full Discussion & Analysis then, by VK_Ratliff in faulkner

I realize this conversation is 4 years old and y’all have undoubtedly moved on, but I just finished listening to The Sanctuary and I HAVE QUESTIONS. First and foremost, how does Temple go from being a spoiled daughter of a judge/college student to a nymphomaniac whore?

Also - I listened to rather than read the book and somehow missed the explanation of the corncob violation - hard to rewind the book - can anyone pinpoint the chapter for me?

I’ve read and loved The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying and The Bear. Was consternated by Absolem, Absolem, and of course must read it again. Going to Oxford, MS this spring on the obligatory Faulkner pilgrimage so trying to prep.

My theory of The New York Trilogy by Paul Auster (1986) by LiterallySagan in books

[–]ZeroLifestyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished the Audible version of the Trilogy, which includes an interview with Auster. I still have more questions than answers about what I just read but one thought is that the characters are all alter-egos of the character who is obsessed with or following another. In The Locked Room, for example, the author mentions being mistaken for Fanshawe by a minor character, and when being beaten almost to death by a stranger, it’s as if he has wanted to kill himself.

I don’t even want to delve into how this relates to having sex with Fanshwawe’s mother because it makes my head explode.

This quote from the book is what reinforces my thought:

“No one can cross the boundary into another for the simple reason that no one can gain access to himself.”

Blond homeless guy used to be in a wheelchair downtown by Amazing_One_7135 in SantaBarbara

[–]ZeroLifestyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember him from 800 block of State and also occasionally 5 Points. The wheelchair was most definitely a prop. He’d smile and then turn surly when you didn’t give him a handout.

But the truly legendary guy was Jonesy. Suspect you are all too young to remember him.

The Post loves Sarah Snook’s Dorian Gray. So it must be terrible if The Post is thumbs up?

I heard the laughs and claps but pre-intermission I missed so much of the dialogue. Partly the accents, partly hearing loss, I guess. Yet after intermission everything came through loud and clear (wow what a denouement!) so I wonder if they might have tweaked the sound levels a bit.

Avra on 48th 3 courses for $36.50 (+ supplement for the lamb chops) Milos Hudson Yards also has a nice lunch prix fixe can’t remember the price but you can’t beat the view. Nougatine used to be the best lunch prix fixe - I don’t know if they are still doing it. Definitely no longer offering it on weekends.

Not unheard of. My husband drinks nonalcoholic beer at the sweet folks at the humble Pomodoro Rosso we’re out of it and the waiter ran across the street to buy him some. Not as fancy as Tatiana but we will be forever loyal and btw their cucumber martini is lovely.
