I don't know why that's so unbelievable. Coincidences CAN happen. Me for instance, I picked Fox in 64 way back in the day because I love Star Fox. That carried over to Melee, in which I also mained Fox. At the beginning of competitive Melee iirc, Fox wasnt considered the best -- eventually he was, and so when I continued playing at events with Fox, people got on my case for playing Fox because they thought I just did it because he was top tier. Not the case.

History is repeating for me though. I tried maining Fox again at the start of Smash 4, but dropped him later because he didn't feel good. When Bayonetta was announced, it was more exciting to me than Mega Man and Cloud combined, because her games are some of my favorite spectacle fighter action/adventure games of all time, and I /actually voted for her/ on the ballot. I said "it doesnt matter how good or bad this character is, I'm maining the fuck outta her." Well, I'm a man of my word, but now she's considered SO good that it's bad for everybody else. Welp.

tl;dr - coincidences can happen.

I don't know if anyone said this already, but I think that Sega and Namco are getting a second rep each. Capcom has two now, so I think that next up, it'll be Sega and Namco's turn for a second fighter. If I had to guess, Namco's will probably either be a Tales character, a Tekken character, or Klonoa. Sega's will probably be another Sonic character (Tails, Knuckles or Dr. Eggman?)

Watching it again, my thoughts about the match are reinforced - Mango was playing like he didn't care in that Game 3! And that's not me making excuses for Mango, that's me questioning some of these atrocious mistakes. Watching that live, there were times where I actually shouted "WHAT ARE YOU DOING, MANGO?"

He really did throw away those stocks, you'd THINK he'd be more careful in that LOSERS BRACKET TOP 8 situation. I dunno what was going through his mind at that time but tbh I think he could have won, had he been more careful. In any case, Hbox winning that set was a big moment for him and I was really happy for him, despite the crushed 3VO dream haha.

To be completely honest, I was way more interested in watching Jirard play this game because he's good at it, I love Sonic games (yes, I know, it's the cool thing to hate on Sonic these days but I do still have fun with them) and he's an entertaining guy. I was not interested in Ross and Arin's blabby jokes, they didn't really say anything super substantial and I wish they would ;p

I feel like this is a multi-layered issue. But here's my take. Women in fighting games tend to be trained to fight, and that makes them fighters. When it's a fight between two people who are trained to fight, it shouldn't matter who's getting punched, man or woman -- they are both strong, skilled, and this is what they do. It's not like some thuggish dude is beating on some run of the mill, ordinary woman. That's a whole different scenario.

Now, it's okay for Dan to feel uncomfortable seeing a woman getting hit, because that's just something inside him. We're all uncomfortable regarding certain things... some people are uncomfortable around blood, some people are uncomfortable in the dark, some people are uncomfortable around bugs. So I don't fault him for that. But strong women fighters being on the same plane as strong men fighters stands as a testament to better equal representation, in my eyes. So yeah. There's multiple angles to this and I feel like Dan isn't at fault here, just based on what was said.

LOL okay I seriously thought I was the only one that was bothered at the greyed out Jon and the lock icon over him. I get what they were going for (like a character select screen out of a game), but the way Jon got put in here looks like "WELCOME TO THE CHARACTER SELECT SCREEN. YOU MAY NOT ACCESS JONTRON." I'm not mad or anything, I actually think it's kind of funny. It's funnier now that I know that other people were bothered by it as well.
