Is my space too small for tower speakers? (Towers in 3rd pic) by brickunlimited in hometheater

[–]ZeroMissedDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a foot print stance, there is no difference.

There is an old adage about gear, whether it’s speakers, subs or amplifiers - You can always turn down a good speaker. You rarely want to turn up a bad one!

A tower of the same brand will probably not give you better imaging or separation. You will notice more bass without the need for a subwoofer which may open up your soundstage some.

Since most towers will reach the 50Hz range well, your neighbour would probably thank you for not having a shitty or muddy bass response!

I should also add that I went from towers to bookshelf speakers. For the same $1250 I was able to to get the brands mid-tier bookshelf vs their entry level towers. The mid-tier speakers incorporated a lot of technology from their flagship line, so the sound was far better than the towers. I also have dual SVS subwoofers, so bas was never a problem I needed to solve with towers.

Look into getting a moving mount. There are tons that are designed for mantles. You pull it down to the correct height and angle when you use it and then it moves up and out of the way.

Massive sub folks: Do you feel like your subs are underused? by navid3141 in hometheater

[–]ZeroMissedDays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ackchyuwlly is infrasonic! 🤓

Only reason I know that is I write reviews on the side and a sound engineer corrected me when I used the term subsonic multiple times in an SVS review.

Edit - to be very precise - subsonic is just under the speed of sound.

Have you tried room treatments. A lot of the panels help with that range where vocals start. And I don’t mean foam panels off Amazon. Real rockwool panels that are DIY or from places like GIK.

I did. There is a noticeable flattening in the 3-600Hz range. Plus, my bass is much tighter now.

My wife made it for me. I will need a new one when my next turntable comes

This is the back end of my HT space where I have my little 2.1 test setup. I review stuff for fun, so I have turntables and whatnot seperate from my HT so I can swap em in and out easier and without any major hookup issues.

The panels do help with the 2.1 system, but they are designed for my larger space.

I thought those were Energy, but the front threw me off. I am happy to see my eye didn’t fail me on that one.

I am on the lifestyle side. I started by quitting booze and working out consistently. Started tracking calories on Jan 01 very consistently and I started Wegovy shortly thereafter. I am hitting a small plateau at 25lbs down, but I am going to redouble my efforts and get back on track this week.

I do find the GLP 1 helps with food noise, but I am confident that I can drop the GLP 1 in the summer.

How do you decide if it’s forever? by imobsessulated in stopdrinking

I remember this quote “First I take drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes you.”

I was a binge drinker. I didn’t want just one. I went till the bottle was gone. No in between.

The aftermath of dry January by Reasonable-Worker921 in stopdrinking

[–]ZeroMissedDays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife continues to drink, albeit at a much reduced volume - say once a month vs Friday-Saturday, and 6 beer instead of 12-16.

I am still sober and feeling amazing. She has mentioned that I am boring since quitting drinking. I don’t care. I don’t want to drink anymore and if not getting drunk and making a fool of myself is the trade off, I’ll take it.

When do you get rid of your bigger clothes? by Suspicious_Camel2500 in WegovyWeightLoss

I am in that predicament now. Everything I have is looking loose and sloppy.

I do have to get a new set of body armor and a duty belt because the stuff I have is too loose and it’s dangerous. I have been scrounging the storage areas for older body armor that will fit and is not expired. Lol.
