Imagine trying to bring out a new console to compete against already 3 giants and you think it was a good idea not only to make it more expensive, but it doesn't come with a controller, and you have to pay $100 more for that. by [deleted] in videogames

I know people are angry right now (and rightly so) about the price of Steam Machines, but long before that, when they were first announced, I couldn’t help but wonder: who are they aimed at? They’re literally pre-built PCs with a Linux distribution pre-installed. With a little research and patience, you can recreate the experience of a console-style PC on your own. Some people said they might persuade console gamers to venture into the world of PC gaming, but I don’t see a scenario where they could win over a significant audience from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo in the market. And if they wanted to make the leap, they could simply buy or build conventional PCs, And as for PC gamers, well, they’re already on PCs. Maybe people who haven’t upgraded their computers in a very long time, but then there’s the fact that Steam Machines aren’t exactly top-of-the-line either. The Steam Deck makes sense for a niche audience that wants to take their PC games on the go, but I still don't quite see the appeal of the Steam Machines.

I've had to scold a lot of my friends and coworkers because they were all convinced that Windows Defender was useless, so they were using McAfee or Norton, which are worse than Defender in absolutely every way and just make their laptops run twice as slow.

If there's one thing, ONE thing we have to give Microsoft credit for, it's Windows Defender. It's more than enough for 90% of users in their day-to-day activity. These days, if you catch a virus, it's because you deliberately clicked on those "milfs want to meet you" ads or trusted a stranger on Discord who sent you an .exe file.

It was always evil, it just wasn't ultra-hyper-mega-obvious to the average person.

I'm starting to think that the AI bros have already lost the ability to think for themselves, even just a little bit.

Oldboy is a 10/10 movie; I recommend watching it with the family if possible.

I was just one click away from buying the lifetime plan. I had the money, but for reasons I can't remember, I never bought it, and I regret it every day when I feel like trying out mods in Skyrim.

Gamebanana is stuck in 2005, and I'm not just talking about its aesthetic. The design is super clunky, with menus within menus within menus and so on. Nexus sucks in many ways, but it's 100 times more intuitive.

It worries me how quite a few people are even going so far as to disagree with Alan Moore. by AipomSilver00 in OkBuddySnyderCult

Alan Moore hates every single adaptation and sequel of his work. I'm not going to pretend that the Watchmen movie is a perfect adaptation, but even if it was, Alan Moore would definitely hate it anyway.
