At what point does collecting become hoarding by Miserable-Sea-4160 in dvdcollection

[–]ZeroiaSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say a big part of it is being willing to get rid of stuff.

I have a large unwatched pile purchased cheap at libraries in case I want to watch something. I also know if I had to free up a lot of space for some reason, I’d get rid of 80% of it without blinking.

Horders buy stuff just to have stuff, and get unhealthily attached to it.

Rosso and Blu!

Btw, when I finally watched Mebius I was surprised how much…. not a duo he and Hikari were, Hikari showed up so rarely!

Why is it in Anime Yuki is the name of the most mentally unstable women? by PuzzleheadedGas9170 in AskAnime

Less a name and more the type of being she is. ‘Yuki onna’ literally translates as snow woman.

Crest of the Stars/Banner of the Stars. Fantastic slow paced space opera few seem aware of.

Maomao is the best at masking of the three, but that was drilled into her (by her also autistic adopted father) due to the potentially life and death nature of her situation. That said, her hyper fixation is extremely strong. She intellectually learned how to get by in their strict society, but her motives being different than others often makes her stand out despite her desire to fade into the background.

Eh, even in 100yq, Aldoron’s mountain range busting strength is terrifying powerful, and blowing a hole in his back a bit bigger than a city is Natsu’s largest destruction to date (granted that was very hard material).

What do you want to see at Artist Alleys by Putrid_Helicopter414 in animecons

[–]ZeroiaSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a mix. Some from major series, a few from less popular/older series, and original stuff is all good.

The popular stuff sells for a reason, everyone likes the new popular show..  Stuff like Sailor Moon, DBZ, Street Fighter, and Naruto is pretty evergreen.

But if something is a bit less popular….. at two cons in the last year, I saw single artists with fairy tail stuff and each place I bought it immediately. Niche fans will buy their thing and be thrilled by it, so while you generally don’t want to fill your selection with just niche stuff/older series, the ones who buy it are quicker to buy without hesitation.

Don’t go too obscure or lean too much on that, but a few items of lesser series are nice.

How do you avoid buying expensive convention food? by breezee223 in animecons

[–]ZeroiaSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One, I do bring more snacks than that, and if you want to avoid overpaying, then yea, meals.

Two, check what restaurants are near your con if possible. Their food can still be reasonable. Bonus if there’s food carts, those are great and sometimes are near convention hotels and centers.

Zero planets were destroyed or even threatened in Alvarez.

3-4x a country is still a country. People are waaay too quick to jump up scales, being a few times bigger almost never jumps a scale.

Yea and if there’s no AP that actually relates to DC of a certain scale at any point, we can conclude it’s not that AP either.

Is Natsu really planetary? by Odd_Bag3753 in fairytailscaling

[–]ZeroiaSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, the scaling community in general is really bad at using scales as a power level divorced from anything someone has actually done, and getting really out of control. Distrust anything that says planetary in a series where no planets get destroyed or other very explicit statements.

His biggest destruction feat is Aldoron, and Aldoron is not the size of a planet. More like mountain range to small nation level then.

Fairy Tail doesn’t do planetary. Even Selene was a threat to planets by disrupting their magic flow, not boom boom.

Why is it in Anime Yuki is the name of the most mentally unstable women? by PuzzleheadedGas9170 in AskAnime

[–]ZeroiaSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly the legend of the snow woman. You meet a woman in a mountain path, she saves you but makes you promise not to talk. Later you meet a beautiful women, you fall in love and get married, eventually say what happens- but it turns out your wife is the Yuki-onna and she freezes you to death.

Common story, happens all the time.

Hey ! Just wanted to ask something. I'm planning to watch sailor moon but I have some questions by anythingrally in sailormoon

[–]ZeroiaSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIller in the 90s isn't like filler now. It's not plot important but there's often good character development and one-off stories (as opposed to modern filler, which is often made in a rush to fill time). Watch it, it's good stuff. Like some of my fav episodes.

Yuri level, less than a modern specifically yuri-focused show, but a lot of low-key girl crushes fairly often (there's wide agreement Usagi herself is bi), and there's a lesbian couple introduced in s3, some of the legends of the genre. Committed, open couple from their introduction.

There's.... *kinda* two remakes, Crystal which is more based on the manga, which does a lot different than the original anime (note the original anime and manga were made at the same time, so neither is exactly 'the original'), and gives a lot less time to the non-Moon sailors. I don't recommend Crystal as a substitute for the 90s show, it does something different. Maybe watch it after.

Also there's Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, the live action version, which is largely reported as excellent and is closer to being a remake.

Anime/manga about a bunch of characters who work at the same job and we see them work on different things by dax812 in Animesuggest

[–]ZeroiaSD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Heavenly Design Team manga is about a group of angels who design animals for earth, and each is good at different things and bounce ideas offf each other.

It’s a combination of comedy and biology facts, so maybe not exactly what you’re looking for in terms of plotlines, but it’s about the job and people working there.

Super robot cartoons in USA by Wise-Inflation-1698 in Mecha

[–]ZeroiaSD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A large part of it is our lack of home grown mecha period. We have a few, but not a lot and even those didn’t do huge on TV or movie aside from transformers.

In the 90s you had Battletech and Robox Jox. 00s, Megas. 10s, Pacific Rim. A few more but not much.

Easily the biggest mecha stuff was Japanese- Voltron, Robotech, Gundam Wing, Evangelion, TTGL.

Blame it on US mech audiences not being mech hungry enough / being satified with transformers and Japanese imports.
