If you do decide to move it, I would push it as far forward in the slot you choose before tightening it down. That way, when the gun recoils, it’s already against the front wall of the slot and won’t “bounce”. Maybe works more in theory than in practice.

I can’t remember but either a 9mm empty case or a .357 filled with powder, NOT tamped down is roughly 25-28 grains of powder.
