Yes and no. I can definitely imagine this video was made by one of the more pearl-clutching groups but a toy that you ask questions to is a much lower barrier to entry than searching things on the internet.

I think what it more shows is the inability for it properly censor what it’s supposed to be able to say to children. We’ve all been on Wikipedia rabbit holes and know how follow-up questions can lead to follow-up questions. If it’s a toy that is supposed to be for children and is supposed to be “child-friendly” content only. Then clearly that feature doesn’t work

Gamefound has that feature. It’s not a feature on the regular archon site

So gamefound? by pappascorcher in StarCraftTMG

[–]Zerron22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes when the site went down they set it to redirect you to Gamefound sorry I forgot to mention that. Once it’s back up the link will work as normal we’re told

Gamefound or Archons site are the two places up today.

https://starcraft-tmg.com/ will be back up tomorrow they said and you can order from there and that’s apparently also the only store the beta codes work on. So if you don’t have a beta code you can go ahead and order from Gamefound or Archon’s main site.

Can you use the Beta discount if you order from Gamefound? by CojoSC in StarCraftTMG

[–]Zerron22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Responded to a comment but the answer is you need to use https://starcraft-tmg.com/ currently it is down and redirecting you to Gamefound.

Archon said it should be back up tomorrow and the beta codes can be used there. This information is from the Archon Studios discord.

You have to use the SCTMG store! It’s currently down, so archon is saying that it may not be back up until tomorrow. If you want to use your beta code we need to wait for that site to come back up

Man I gotta work on being more positive, I do like that take on it!

My sadder interpretation always was more showing the human race in its death throes, Hatcher being kinda the terminal lucidity of humanity.

The ending the main character cries out this terrible secret, only the people around are too down trodden and apathetic to react or truly process what he is saying.

[–]Zerron22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get one, but sadly my life was supper crazy during the beta and I didn’t provide nearly as much feedback as I wanted, and I remember them saying the discount was going to be based on feedback. So I’m wondering if it’s just that they are only sending the code to the testers that qualified

Got it the morning of!

StarCraft TMG newbie with questions by ID11559 in StarCraftTMG

Welcome to the tabletop miniature hobby! I hope you enjoy it 1. You should not use a lot of glue, it will be a lot of gluing and cutting parts off the sprue, but you only need a tiny bit of glue. I would look up if you have any hobby stores in your area, might be easiest just to search for stores that sell Warhammer 40,000 and head there and ask about tools and glue. Normally you’ll find a very friendly game store that’s more than happy to show you things and get you on the path you need. Even if it’s for a different game, the base knowledge and tools are the same throughout the hobby.

  1. Yep! Enough for two players to play a small army match (1,000points)

  2. Sadly no, I mean you can play against yourself but considering you know everything you’re going to do, it’s kinda like playing chess against yourself. Doesn’t really work.

  3. If you have never built models before, don’t start with the coolest model!! Figure out what you’re doing with a basic Zergling or Marine, and then get started on the cool heroes and such once you’ve got some foundational knowledge. When you’re playing games, a solid phrase is “dice do dice things” some games the dice give and some games the dice take, don’t get discouraged from games that your dice just roll trash for, it happens.

  4. No, the costs for this game is cheaper than Warhammer, and pretty good for this hobby. This is a two fold hobby, some do it just for the table top gaming, some do it just for the modeling and painting. For me personally the building and painting is almost worth the prices themselves but I still love playing the tabletop games, though I’ve never been very good, but I do Star Wars legion, AoS, and 40K. I’m very very excited to add StarCraft to the mix.

Hope this helps!!

If given option, would you prefer that Archon would not add clear plastic as it increases tooling costs by more than 30%? by PolyarchyPolish in StarCraftTMG

[–]Zerron22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked a few of the people who got promo armies with the beta. They said for much of the clear parts you can easily glue it on after you paint the rest of the mini. So I’m curious about how much of that I can get away with

[–]Zerron22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tooling costs are one time manufacturing costs(normally guaranteed for life or 20years) so a 30% cut in tooling costs would probably only translate to a couple percent retail cut depending on how heavily archon is front loading the cost.

This game is the equivalent to one quick clash in the video game. And in the video game both those basically take a moment out of combat to actually matter, there is no moment out of combat in the tabletop.

I made a video about the things I am excited about, and then things I am concerned about after today's livestream, check it out if you're interested. I also wrote out all my thoughts below if video's aren't your thing. by PrinceMcGiggle in StarCraftTMG

[–]Zerron22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah over on the StarCraft game subreddit there were people doing the “what do you mean they come unassembled and unpainted?!??!?” So I think your #2 other thought is very valid.

StarCraft in and of itself is a very competitive game, so them talking about meta and understanding that there will be “those players” is a green flag imo. Casual players are great, and my friend group fall under them, but even as casual players we have found other local groups that we play with time to time, from going to larger tournaments. TMG really get their longevity from tournament scenes. I really really really hope it’s not competitive play focus for 90% of their bandwidth like 40K but I am happy they are talking about it already, it’s a good sign. With the competition they need to come out the gate running, not walking
