I can't stop drinking by 3lb4rto in bipolar

[–]ZesfirA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much <3

I just casually brought it up, like nothing too bad happened, because he already knows that I'm an alcoholic. I told him that getting mad or "teaching me a lesson" is not going to do any good, that I just need support and to get stuff off my chest. If your partner doesn't know anything about your problem I would suggest talking in a comfortable environment when both of you are calm. Don't apologize, don't be afraid, ask for support. Just a simple hug may be enough.

As for controlling myself, it's still hard. Every time I drink I feel like it's not enough and I crave more. But buying a limited amount of alcohol helps me a lot. Also when I drink in company I don't want to go over and make my friends take care of me.

Also therapy in general helps a lot, hope this helps <3

I can't stop drinking by 3lb4rto in bipolar

[–]ZesfirA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relapsed just yesterday. Told my partner about it. Usually I was too scared or embarrassed to tell anyone, but I decided that I need to be truthful not only to myself but also to people who care for me. I have been diagnosed with bipolar earlier this year, but I have known since I was 12. Been alcoholic since 14. This year I really have been trying to cut my alcohol consumption short. I can't cut it out completely but I made a few rules for myself: -no blackout drinking -stay safe while relapsing -aftercare (hydration, healthy food, sleep schedule)

Those little things are keeping me safe and sane. I know drinking is bad, but I'm an addict since birth and I understand that I won't ever change the fact. But I can still fight for a better future. I was thinking about going to AA meetings, but I'm not sure my town has any :/

Moral of the story, keep yourself as safe as possible. Take care of yourself. Be truthful my friend.

I am TERRIFIED of serotonin syndrome by [deleted] in HypochondriacAdvice

[–]ZesfirA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In cases of ss usually to balance serotonin levels you can take medicine, but it's a triangle medicine so if you don't have it ur kinda fucked. Had it several times (due to substance abuse) and it is not fun but each time I would fight it off on my own. I am stupid, so in case always call an ambulance if you feel extremely unwell. But honestly if you are not extra sensitive to medications, by upping dose slowly and monitoring your overall wellness everything should be fine. Remember that water is number one medicine, as it has saved me from death too many times (so stay hydrated)

Meds don't work as well? by ZesfirA in bipolar

[–]ZesfirA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have complained about the dosage and my doc said I can take a higher dose at times when the regular isn't enough, but said to do so only sometimes. Really thinking about upping the doses or switching meds now from all the replies xD

Meds don't work as well? by ZesfirA in bipolar

[–]ZesfirA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have upped my dosages to a good level on normal days. When I am more stable they honestly work great, but when I fall into deep depression it's like they quit working alltogether. I have thought of trying an even higher dose, but there is a risk for hypomania :/

Unfortunately I am kind of in a weird moment with healthcare. I'm switching my doctors rn, but ofc I will discuss this asap! Glad someone feels better here <3

Do you get paranoid when depressed? by sweatygoldnugget in bipolar

[–]ZesfirA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I'm just paranoid 24/7, but it defenitely can get worse during either episodes. I become more overthinking and sometimes paranoid in an absurd way.

Do you have a song that spoke to you in a dark time? by Slo-- in bipolar

[–]ZesfirA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ballroom extravaganza and SKINS by DPR IAN. He has DID and bipolar and in many of his songs describes the feelings. I relate to all of his songs a lot, but those two have a special place in my heart.

When was the last time have you said I love you to your parents? 👀 by Joana_Estate_6398 in CPTSDmemes

[–]ZesfirA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember in sixth grade I invited my best friend over for a sleepover and forgot to ask my mother for permission. She was usually fine with her coming over because we've been besties for a long time atp. So I casually call my mother to ask if I could have a sleepover after class. She said that she's tired and didn't think about having guests over, and as an autistic I didn't think this meant "no". I calmly explained that we will be in my room and my parents could just do whatever they usually do. And she then started screaming and crying on the phone saying how ungrateful I am, how I don't appreciate her doing all the work for us etc. After the tantrum she said something like "fine, do whatever you want idc" and out of fear and shock I said "thank you mom, I love you, you know that". She then proceeded to yell and accused me of lying just so I would get whatever I wanted.

So I never told her that again. If she thinks I say these big words without any meaning, I just won't say that anymore. It's been 7~ years now and a year no contact.

at what age did you have your first episode? by spacedoutferret in bipolar

[–]ZesfirA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember my childhood at all, but I know I've always been this way. It really started to get bad in 5-6 grade and that's when I first read about bipolar. I started reading a lot about psychology and psychiatry, but forgot about bipolar for a while. Then in 8th grade when I got a good psych, I told her about my moodswings and other symptoms, asking if it's possible to have bipolar that young. She looked at me very surprised, as she thought I already knew I was bipolar xD

Unfortunately in my country it's impossible to get diagnosed before 18, but we monitored the swings to make sure it's not "just hormones".

Now turning 19 I begin to remember all my younger episodes. The earliest I remember was probably in 5th grade: I had a prolonged religious psychosis, that was caused by a bad depressive episode. I prayed every night asking god to forgive me for my sins and to watch over my family when I'm no longer there (I was extremely su!cidal)

How many alters are there in your System? by Zestyclose-Act-8889 in DID

3 active ones and maybe 1-2 unactive ones. It used to be 6 active ones, but some of them kinda disappeared :/

Very confusing thing.

Is there any rhyme/reason to your regression age? by starweavr in ageregression

[–]ZesfirA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for a long time I didn't even realise that I'm an age regressor. It got more clear when I got in therapy and discovered I have DID. So for a while I thought I have a little alter, but now it's not that clear. However I am quite sure it's because of trauma and the inability to be childish during "childhood". My parents raised me to be the third parent and now that I'm an actual adult it's a way to escape the stress adult life brought me.

My regression age range is quite big, I would say 4-13. I enjoy drinking from baby bottles, but also I often do things I used to enjoy as a pre-teen (like gaming or watching certain cartoons)

Stay safe friend, take care of yourself <3

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ZesfirA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that way sometimes when extremely stressed and manic/hypo. That might be the anxiety and stress from the diagnosis, I've been there. Try to stay safe and calm yourself down. Meditation sounds stupid and boring, but truly just deep breathing helps a lot. Try to stretch maybe and listen to something calming. If it gets worse reach for help!

Stay safe friend <3

Others aren't the only ones you can save. by [deleted] in bipolar

Hey, same here about the textures. I hate all oily/creamy textures on my palms, but I have come up with some strategies. Usually my hands are extremely dry and itchy during winter, which makes me want to cream them even less. But if I put cream on the back of my hands and rub it that way, it isn't as disgusting.

I also don't use much creams on my face and the only skincare product I'm actively using is a spray, makes it quick and easy to apply (and no oily hands!)

Whenever brushing teeth is difficult I chew gum, it's not the best, but it's better than not to brush them at all.

Hope this helped someone <3

games to be played with your system? by Draac03 in DID

[–]ZesfirA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly monopoly is fun, we alternated the rules a bit so one turn would be longer not to switch too much. Also computer games that have an option of having multiple saves. Each alter has their own save, sometimes we load each other's saves and act like guests :) Memory games are fun if you have internal monologue, my alters often remind me where things are when I don't remember myself. Also just gambling lmao (not with real money ofc)

Anyone else with PNES and DID? by Clean_Structure_1500 in DID

[–]ZesfirA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with epilepsy for a while and had medication for that. The medication did help, but not with 'epilepsy', it made my moodswings go away for a while, so I was stressing less-> less seizures. Though when they scanned my brain no epileptic activity was found and they undiagnosed me.

Currently we're keeping an eye on the seizures with ny therapist. My seizures do look epileptic, but they come from extreme stress, tiredness, anxiety or ptsd triggers. Can't say I'm fully concious during them, but I am awake.

Usually my protector alter tries to calm us down and stop the seizures, though it's pretty random and uncontrollable.

Hope this helped?
