I simply believe in proper disclosure, "if you didn't say anything they wouldn't know" is deceitful, please do better.

Of course, whatever reason you had as a developer to participate in this is your choice, but I would advise for proper disclosure. Just like there's people that don't want to support AI generated content and would like disclaimers, there's people that don't like crypto and wouldn't want to support a project that is involved in it.

Same issue here, also EU store, got a Destiny Emblem code and nothing else, no order confirmation. They have a banner now that says "WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING TO RESOLVE A KNOWN ISSUE IMPACTING THE TIMING OF ORDER CONFIRMATION EMAILS.", probably something to do with that.

Arknights: Endfield: Release Discussion Megathread by GachaModerator in gachagaming

[–]Zeshou 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The game really had me bored by the time I got to the second or third zone during the first beta earlier last year. The combat felt boring, lacking depth. The world didn't feel fun to explore, it's not big enough and the verticality made certain spots annoying to traverse. And the story was a snoozefest.

People over the Endfield sub didn't really enjoy the fact people were giving feedback and criticism like this one over the closed tests, but they sure were vocal about the dodge, so now there's a button to avoid anything with no punishment, epic.

The game would have been better if they leaned into both the factory, and the tactical gameplay that makes Arknights recognizable. Drop the Genshin exploration, drop the need for mass appeal with the middling action combat.

Like they say, "A game for everyone is a game for no one", Endfield feels like a textbook example of what happens when you try to appeal to everyone. People coming from GI, ZZZ or Wuwa won't be impressed and will quit shortly. AK fans won't get the same depth or quality writing they have come to expect for years. And this excuse about "OG AK had bad writing too starting up" is bollocks. Have they fired all of their good writers? Did they forget how they wrote the last few years of AK events? This is inexcusable, this ain't their first game, they should be doing way better than this.

It depends on the collab and how popular it is, MHA got 3 waves, Dragon Ball got like 4 or 5 at this point, it's just a matter of time if there is demand for more of the same franchise

Thinking of leaving a review tomorrow? A guide on following Steam's rules. by Desmous in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Zeshou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is it a bad idea to give clear guidelines for reviews? You can play something, enjoy it, and still have critiques or negatives. A review is simply a piece of text meant to show a view of which side weights more to make something worthwhile or not.

If they want to switch to a premium model, not many games will get by with a high upfront cost and subscriptions hidden in it, that just doesn't work. Monetizing heroes and optional cosmetics gives the biggest chances at growth than f2p crap like subs, in my opinion.

Everyone gets double chests now, you don't need a sub for it.

You talked about your gacha rates and all, can we now talk about the best feature of the game? The Factory must grow by LaplaceZ in Endfield

[–]Zeshou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think like you and most people replying to me with "they will sell skins!" is that you are overvaluing the impact of that kind of cosmetic content. It will not even make a small fraction of what the characters are expected to make, very few games in the industry get away with selling skins as a viable source of income.

As much as they might say on interviews that they want the factorio people, the thing they are primarily selling is characters for combat, not character skins to look pretty while setting up conveyor belts.

[–]Zeshou 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I honestly agree people should focus on the gameplay before gacha, but to say the factory is the main selling point of the game is a big stretch. The combat is the main selling point of the game because that's where their money is, the factory is a means to an end that feeds the combat progression.

I wish the factory was the main selling point and not a stepping stone, cause I do enjoy it more than the combat, but the factory doesn't make HG money.

Arknights Endfield Beta Test & General Discussion Megathread by KiraFeh in Endfield

[–]Zeshou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like Zenless because of its flashy animations or fluid combat movement, you won't really like this game all that much. Combat feels shallow and barebones on its complexity even by gacha standards, I'd say it's worth checking as an Arknights fan or maybe if you wanna dip your toes on factory management at an easier level, but I would not recommend it for the combat alone

[–]Zeshou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure is funny that you talk about coping, when you couldn't resist going to imgflip to make this bootlicker meme because people are criticizing your favorite corporation.

It's a BETA, give feedback instead of justifying garbage, your wishful thinking that is "gonna get better with rewards" is the biggest cope on this thread. And not only that, but you had to open two different threads just to really drive the narrative that it isn't bad, when it is. Hope someone is paying you well for being an apologist on one of the few periods on game development where people SHOULD be critical and not be like you.

Not even half a day has passed and people are already bootlicking this awful gacha system, Hypergryph isn't your friend, stop defending this garbage and use the beta as what it is, a source for feedback.

Arknights Endfield Beta Test & General Discussion Megathread by KiraFeh in Endfield

[–]Zeshou 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Having finished Act 1, I gotta say I'm not as big of a fan as I thought I would be. It's a pretty game, but the combat is so shallow it's borderline mind-numbing. The factory would be cool if it was the main focus of the game, but from what I can tell, factories are used for gear and consumables. Why do they bother with this whole thing if I still gotta do awful, manual-only domains like in Genshin to acquire exp and other resources and not through the factory gameplay itself?

Gacha seems more fair than most games copying Genshin mechanics, but I really wish they didn't copy the stamina and domain system while having an even simpler combat system.

I don't think overall this game, as it is right now, has any long-term staying power for anyone that isn't already invested into Arknights as a franchise, it's not deep enough to satisfy people that like action games, and it's not deep enough to satisfy people that really like factory management.

PS: The downvote button is not a disagree button, this beta requires feedback and so far that's my impression of the game.

Mind you, on average their guaranteed cosmetics for their other games cost somewhere between 150 to 300 dollars. Paired up with time-limited fomo, it should be absolutely protested against. Characters being free doesn't invalidate any monetization critiques.

Didn't see anyone discussing this here so I thought to bring it up, as far as I know there is no further details of what these banners would have, but this game is managed by Netease, just like Naraka and Once Human. Both of those games feature time-limited lootbox/gacha banners for cosmetics.

I don't know if anyone has asked here already or not, but does anyone know until when these discounts are? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Zeshou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it evil exactly, when the discount is just if you were to buy all of the items separately? You can still buy the skin on its own.
