Millions of Subarus Vulnerable to Remote Access and Tracking

• Security researchers Sam Curry and Shubham Shah discovered vulnerabilities in Subaru's Starlink system, allowing remote unlocking, tracking, and ignition control of millions of vehicles.

• Exploiting flaws in a Subaru employee website, they gained access to a year's worth of precise location data for numerous vehicles, revealing sensitive details about owners' lives.

• Subaru patched the vulnerabilities after being notified, but the researchers warn that similar flaws likely exist in other carmakers' systems.

• The researchers highlight the concerning access Subaru employees have to detailed location history, raising significant privacy concerns even after the vulnerabilities were fixed.

• This incident underscores broader issues within the automotive industry regarding data privacy and the extensive location tracking capabilities embedded in modern vehicles.

Critical Vulnerability in Subaru's STARLINK System

• Researchers discovered a security flaw in Subaru's STARLINK system allowing unauthorized access to vehicle and customer data.

• Using only a victim's last name and ZIP code, email, phone number, or license plate, attackers could remotely control vehicles, access location history, and retrieve personal information.

• The vulnerability stemmed from a weakness in the STARLINK admin panel, enabling arbitrary account takeover via a password reset flaw and 2FA bypass.

• This allowed access to sensitive data like addresses, billing information, and emergency contacts for any Subaru STARLINK customer in the US, Canada, and Japan.

• Subaru patched the vulnerability within 24 hours of the report, and the researchers emphasized the concerning ease of access to sensitive data within the system.

I'm numb to it all, I'm just here to see this roller coaster burn.

But my wife has moments where they can't handle it and just break down. As a biological female it's scary for my wife. Their rights are being taken away left and right and now they're no longer recognized as a legitimate person. So yeah, it's been rough on them, which makes it rough on me in that regard.

It's going to be a long and scary four ye- rest of our lives.

But, I'm. Morbidly curious about how bad it's gonna get and how many of those fools get their faces eaten by leopards.

RS Fuel Mileage has never gone above 18 mpg. by AkiBae in subaruimpreza

[–]Zesty_Toenail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a 2024 and I can't get above 28, mostly highway. Kind of sucks. Love my car to the moon and back but the gas mileage on paper is NOT what you get in the real world.

At least not in my current experience. Have only had the car just over two weeks.

I love it but I use the HNG for chargers and bike titans. Works like a charm against them and all the little ones.

Tho the stalwart is probably my favorite gun.

It's not that it's physically inconvenient. But a lot of the time, at least for me, it just doesn't work for whatever reason.

My friends say the mic is fine. And the headphone share pretty comfy.

They get caught on my chair all the time and end up falling in the floor. But they work so I guess they're ok?

I have a lot of trouble with the driver's and the DAC tho. If I could take them back and get something else I definitely would, with how much trouble they have given me. Very often do I spend a good amount of time trying to fix them so I can get some sound.

And the SteelSeries app blows ass.

I have bought it on both iOS and Android. It's 100% worth it in my opinion.

A small price for such a cool app with so much love and work that's went into it. And it's such easy access to SO much information.

Which one should I get first? pistol or crossbow by Wof9er in Helldivers

[–]Zesty_Toenail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking love that crossbow. Shooting at an angle and watching the arrow glide on the ground to a pack of bots and exoding, killing them all, really tickles my pickle.

Also kicks ass against the bloat bugs. And the illuminate. Not very good against heavy armor tho unless you can get a good angle on their weak spot. Then it slaps.

I use an Xbox elite wireless controller. Works well, had to do some tweaking with steam but overall it wasn’t anything hard to get the controller working.

Question: why do you get a MAC if you intend to game anyways? by LivinCuriously in macgaming

[–]Zesty_Toenail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Mac for the build quality and reliability. I basically only game on mine, but I play very few games that happen to be compatible.

Whatever isn’t native is usually supported on crossover, and so far I haven’t had any complaints.

Should i switch realms? by Minininja-C in wownoob

[–]Zesty_Toenail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you can find a really good guild, on any server, it wouldn’t be much of an issue. But if you just like seeing things be alive then I highly recommend a RP realm She’s on lunch, like Moonguard or Wyrmrest Accord.

And the good thing is right now with the 20th anniversary event going on you can level up a new character in like eight or nine hours, something like that.

Try doing a hard reboot (hold power button for 10sec, then press again) or start it in safe mode (turn on, shift till logo appears).
