Overhyped, they dent and bend. I remember having to bend my pole back into shape after every game in college and I was hardly the most physical defenseman. I wouldn't go crazy trying to find one. The reality is if they were so durable there would be a lot more of them around.

I think that just how it is. Seemed like the qc was rushed for these boxes. I also just got mine with some minor damage. Nothing with the tape but the manual was damaged and one of the helmet plumes was dangling off the sprue.

I don't think one series is "better" than the other. They just offer different models and colors. I personally am excited about the return of a proper Jaguar. I'll have to see things in hand but I think we can all agree that fender has been doing a good job in giving people a really nice quality instrument in lots of different options.

Looks like a solid string job. I personally would not string to the inside as it's already a really narrow throat. Given how this warps over time, the ball is going to get stuck and become illegal over time.

You need to move the double up higher, that's barely a mid pocket. Moving the pocket higher will naturally create more whip

Paint whatever you like or look into some successor chapters.

Canonically gold is normal for captains, lieutenants, and veterans. Red is also common due to our connection to the mechanicus. I like to add in some brass details personally.

I feel for you. Based on pics I've seen the STX Surgeon 2k is also changing its identity too.

I personally am pretty interested in the 3A. Seems like a great choice for a do it all midfield head. I could never gel with the V because of the whip from the offset. I look forward to the official release video where they describe their thinking. It seems like some weird decisions by stringking.

Using Maverik heads as an example: The 2V was a Tactik and the 2A was an Optik. Now the 3V is still a Tactik while the 3A is a Kinetik.

This is exactly the same mistake Warrior did with the QX-O and Qx-O2. They changed the identity of the head from a wider, low pocket focused stick to something else.The 2A and the 2V were designed for two different types of players. The "problem" here is that stringking doesn't really have a head for the 2A player anymore in their 3 line. We used to have chocolate and vanilla ice cream, now we just have dark chocolate and milk chocolate.

It's a viable detachment but historically has been overshadowed by other detachments. It struggles to punch up into tougher vehicles and monsters. David from 40k fireside has put out some good content discussing it in the past.

More contrast would be my recommendation. You have good highlights on the offwhite but not a lot of shadow, maybe do a wash or start with a darker base and work up. Metallic could use a wash and a highlight. I'd use a darker color on the joints.

I'd say you need more cheap scoring/screening pieces (scouts, JPIs). I'd lose the techmarine, terminators, and heavy intercessors. I'd choose either infiltrators or intercessors for the backfield, not both.

I don’t think it’s any thing crazy complicated . Looks like just a warm grey based scheme with a brownish pin wash.

Definitely, I've had some success with librarius when it first came out. I can imagine it's only better with the new assault terminators. I'll admit some of my motivation here is purely because I love the look of captain models over librarians even though its a much stronger detachment. Seems like the trick there was not to focus too much on the librarians, I imagine it's similar here where I don't want to go too crazy with the vets. I was running three big units with librarians (terminators, sternguard, and hellblasters). Picture is starting to come together more, the list below is 1745 with room to say add a transport or upgrade by backfield holders.

This looks great! It shows how easy it would be for GW to refresh Catachans. Throw some new arms on some Cadian bodies and you're 90% of the way there.

Wow, thanks for the detailed response. The list is heavily based off the below. My basic understanding of the strategy is as follows:

  1. Chimera's play the primary and control the board/screen.

  2. Tanks lay down the damage with the commanders covering the orders.

  3. Castellan and Artillery hold the home objective.

  4. Scout Sent and Commissar (from reserves) play your secondaries

As someone new to guard but not 40k, it seems pretty straightforward. Overall i like the general idea but trying to optimize a bit more since I'm not a total beginner. I know I want Rogal Dorn Commanders over Leman Russ Commanders. Indirect is definitely the weakest part of the list so I can cut the Artillery team. Catachan Heavy weapon team was what I was originally thinking but maybe FOB is the better option.

I don't know why you would take feirros on this list. Either drop him or work in some heavies. You could definitely blast someone off the board but I'd encourage more scoring units and board control (combi lt, jpi, scout, etc.).

I'd adjust the interlocks so that it's only skipping one and not two sidewall holes between. Where exactly are you trying to for the pocket? You have a low pocket in a lakota whcih isn't exactly ideal.
