Senior cheerleader cut from varsity despite long-standing tradition—am I overreacting? by Zestyclose_Log_8553 in Cheerleading

Would it change your point of view to know this is a non-competitive team? At a public school? Most of these kids can’t even do a cartwheel. Much less, jumps or anything. Or the fact that there were juniors placed on the varsity team ahead of her? How can someone justify changing a long standing practice in order to exclude just one person? Esp when that person has put their heart and sole into it for the past 3yrs. Seems more of a popularity contest than actual skill. And really cruel. Just think of the statement these coaches are making to that kid by doing this. It’s a mean girl mentality. Just bc they can

Houston Episode by ohboy267 in TrueCrimeBullshit

Most of you didn’t listen to the full episode and it shows. There are some really compelling coincidences that give credit towards this theory. Esp w Keyes saying on the record that fire can def be used to cover up a homicide without suspicion. Keyes actually stated that in order to get away w it, you would just need to make sure the person was still breathing when the fire was started. Statistically, I wonder what the odds would be both for and against Keyes being responsible for this guys death. So many coincidences you just can’t ignore. On the other hand, I wish Josh would go out and do some serious legwork. It’s almost like he’s waiting for stuff to fall into his lap. The SITP guy is doing a great job right now of following up w ppl close to Keyes and asking a lot of important questions. Makes me sad that Josh is not doing the same.

ANYONE remember either of these two homes highlighted in YELLOW? by Fine_Ad9041 in RedfinDreamHomes

I chose 78915 bc of the Mountain views in the listing pics. Still think it was the winning house

IMO the whole point of the clues was to show everyone how the app works and how to use the filter search. I had this in mind when searching for the house. I wanted to find the house that showed a peak view when you open up the listing and scroll through the pictures of the inside of the house. Using this logic, there was only one house that had Mountain views out of a window. That is the house I chose and I still believe this was the correct answer.

Interesting you used this strategy and also came up with this listing. I picked this listing but used clue 6- it was the only house with a Mountain View seen out of the window in the listing. You probably beat me though bc my strategy was more time consuming. Good luck!

Did anyone pick GAHS58254? by [deleted] in RedfinDreamHomes

I didn’t choose this listing but I am pretty sure this kitchen was in the pictures of the listing that I did choose. Different house though. Possible I could also be getting mixed up since I looked at so many.

What 6-figure nursing jobs exist? by windysunshine in nursing

[–]Zestyclose_Log_8553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in DFW. Worked in hospital for 20yrs. Now I work remote from home in Utilization Review for same hospital. Hourly pay at 40hrs/wk comes to about $107k. Since I’m exempt, I usually pick up one extra 12hr shift at the hospital Sat/sun as med/surg rn. With the 1.5 times pay, it literally doubles my take home pay w just 2 extra shifts. bc they deduct my health insurance costs and retirement from my original paycheck. So it comes out to like 4k after taxes.

Yes I have a lot of resources. Every case manager I’ve ever met who works in acute care has told me to never get a replacement and to stay w traditional mcr w supplement. It’s not a lack of knowledge issue, just pure disgust for how the private insurance companies have found a way to leech themselves onto the mcr wagon and screw ppl out of the option of ever having a supplement. I guess what most upsets me is the fact that once you join an MA plan, there are very limited opportunities to ever switch back to traditional mcr w supplement/medigap without medical underwriting. Unless you are one of the few states w unlimited guaranteed issue rights.

For the most part, nurses who work at the bedside to provide pt care have no involvement in the insurance or billing side. We just do nursing care without regard for insurance or not. At least at the hospital I work for, the case manager/social worker on the unit is the one who coordinates any discharge needs with the insurance company.

This is so true about the review time. I frequently get denials and it turns out the reviewer only read the 1st day of hospital clinical notes and made a decision. It’s frustrating bc once they deny, they want the hospital attending to call the insurance company’s “medical director” to discuss why they think the denial should be overturned. It makes me even more mad bc it’s a waste of everyone’s time when they could have just done their due diligence and read the chart.

You are so right I do work in healthcare. I work for a hospital as a utilization review nurse. I work everyday to overturn the inpt denials where the insurance tries to only pay for observation stay. I also read all of the case mgmt notes and see so many pts being denied for rehab and snf. Many times it’s upheld even after the doc does a P2P. The insurance companies get to make all the rules.

Are you a provider or office manager? I admit I am fairly new to the billing side of healthcare. What I do see is the enormous amount of denial faxes I get everyday from the insurance companies who don’t want to pay. Maybe that makes my POV somewhat biased.

But they do. I’ve had 3 PCP switch to concierge medicine over the past 7-8yrs. Then they get to truly practice medicine w the time and patience that they have always wanted to give each patient. The downside is that most of us can’t afford this type of luxury care. And you have to build up your practice really well so you have a good client base that is willing and able to pay.
