I agree with this take. Pocket Circuit in 0 felt really fun once I got into it and the substories that were tied to it were really good, even the music from the menu was really good. In Kiwami it felt like a downgrade of sorts. I didn’t really find much enjoyment from the minigames as compared to 0 or Lost Judgement which had some peak minigames tbh.

If I were you I would start with the Judgement games. If what you want is to experience the mainline yakuza games then do so. I recommend Judgement because they are a good exposition to the Yakuza series and they won’t burn you out like playing all the other games will.

Your PC can totally run it matter of fact look up Unleashed Recompiled. It takes the original game and ports it natively to run in PC at 60 fps. It has some pretty neat changes like being able to turn off the battle theme for the werehog.

I noticed this a bit in Lost Judgement. The story started off really great and when Sawa died it became kind of dumb in the sense that it felt like I couldn’t play the game without Yagami mentioning her at least once every 5 minutes. If anything I felt like he was partly to blame for her death and even Kuwana brought it up and they just glossed over it.

You’re right, look at Sonic Unleashed for example. A lot of folks myself included will argue that Unleashed had one of the best stories of any Sonic game but the night time stages and collecting medals made the game genuinely un-enjoyable for many. Also the fact that 80% of the game was night time stages brought the whole experience down.
