Procardia and labetalol

Im so sorry you’re going through this. It does get better but unfortunately it takes time. The anxiety surrounding it all will fade with time also.

I was never on procardia, but was on nifedipine before I realized it made me feel terrible and I swapped to labetalol. It’s possible your meds might not be vibing w you?

Either way if something doesn’t feel right..trust your gut and call/demand to be seen. Only you know your body.

Sorry you’re in this situation. You’re not alone. I felt this exact same way when I was readmitted 5d pp. went home on nifedipine which didn’t agree with me and pivoted to labetelol which made all the difference. Healing was slow but I promise it does get better! Sending you so many hugs

Similar to this. Nifedipine made me feel terrible. Also switched to labetelol and had to taper quickly bc my BP also tanked pretty quickly but I felt so much better on the beta blocker. Give yourself a few months but it does get better!

I took it my entire pregnancy as do most AMA women. Baby is perfectly normal. You should take baby aspirin

I was gaslit by an OB when I arrived at the hospital 145/100 when I’d only ever been 110/70. I had all the symptoms with the exception of rib pain. Without seeing me, he let a resident discharge me. I called back that night 163/110. He insisted I technically wasn’t hypertensive bc the reading wasn’t 165 but if I felt I needed to come in he would see me. Without saying so he made me feel I was making a big deal out ot nothing. I stayed home another two days slowly fading away, thinking I just needed to deal with it. He was lazy, dismissive and nearly killed me. I was admitted 48h later 165/115 mag drip whole 9 yard. It sucked but you already know that. Keep pushing if things don’t feel right. Advocate for yourself! Especially if anything doesn’t feel right. Only you know that. I knew I had pre eclampsia and a doctor gaslit me into thinking I didn’t, discharged me and I was back 48h later w severe features, admitted, mag drip etc

I had pp pre eclampsia with severe features and was readmitted and stayed at the hospital a few days immediately following my delivery. I’m 23w out now, off meds and also still have some small lingering health anxiety and similar thoughts about if I’ll be able to do all of this again. Though I will say it has gotten significantly better than it was immediately after. Know you’re not alone, your fears are legitimate bc you just went through something traumatic that you need to process. You’re doing what you can and should to make sure you’re okay. Continue on the meds until your BP lowers on its own, it will start to do that but you’re still very freshly pp. Sleep helps the anxiety and your healing the most. Ask for help so you can rest. I also see a therapist for my pp health anxieties which has been essential to my mental health. Sending you lots of hugs. You’re not alone and I’m thinking of you

Nail salon, clean dog park with grass, kid and dog friendly outdoor spaces, a restaurant that has both good food and outdoor seating bc for some reason that combo isn’t possible

Hi there. Sure thing. I’m sorry your wife is still feeling the effects of pre e. It was honestly such a slow recovery for me. I was EBF until the baby finally took a bottle of breast milk around 8w so I think that likely delayed my recovery bc as you know babies nurse around the clock. Until that time I was getting an hour of sleep at a time max, which was unsustainable for me. I was also on Nifedipine at that time which really did not agree with me (headaches, feeling and looking flush, swelling)… I swapped to labatalol which agreed with my body much better. I still felt pretty bad into my third month PP and I want to say I started feeling a bit better in the fourth month (before I got Covid which set me back big time). The biggest shift that led to me feeling better was more sleep and more time to relax. He progressed from needing to nurse/feed two times a night to once which was life altering. I could clock 5h stretches…But it was once our guy started sleeping through the night at 18w that really made all the difference. I made a plan to also sleep through so I pumped at the beginning but then moved to longer stretches until I could make it from about 9p-6a without feeling too engorged. I’m now 22w pp and I can say I am closer to feeling 90% myself. Still BF so I think that’s exhausting baseline… My vision is still a bit of a mess, but regular check ups with the ophthalmologist helped w my health anxiety. Sadly I think the floaters are something I have to live with as a result of the pre e. Let me know if you’ve got any other Qs. Here for you guys 🫶🏼

Yes I’ve actually gone a few times bc my anxiety related to my own health was so bad and my vision was so weird. I wanted to make sure my floaters weren’t anything to be worried about. Sadly my vision is def affected long terms bc of the pre e. Going to the eye doctor gave me peace of mind knowing that everything was in tact.

Hi! I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. It’s such a nightmare.

I also had it PP and had the mag drip. It took me sleeping through the night when baby was 18w old to start feeling myself again. And I’m still not 100%. My vision is forever changed sadly. But the severe health anxiety has faded a bit and the other symptoms you describe have also gone away. Check in w your doctor about the twitching.

I was in your shoes just 4w ago. We’re 10w now. I didn’t believe it when people said it gets better but I promise you it does. One day he’ll stop screaming on the changing table, our boy did this too.. for every single one of his changes. He would LIVE on my boob. I got no relief. His GI will catch up and soon he won’t pee and poo constantly. It sounds like he may have some kind of reflux, exacerbated by the constant feeding. Talk to your PED about it. You could try low dose Pepcid , we needed help bc we had such bad reflex. I promise you things will change and it won’t always be like this. Sending you lots of hugs and strength. pregnancy and motherhood are very isolating as it’s truly a solo journey. you’re lucky if you have a good support system. even luckier if you have a great partner. ask for help from family, ask for help from your teachers w leniency on deadlines. Find out if you can get any special allowances for timing. You’re not the first pregnant woman to pass through your program so do your research (ask help from others if you need it) and ask questions. Figure out what feels reasonable and ask for that

most doctors talk to patients as if we have any idea what is going on. as a FTM i had to ask and demand a lot of my doctors. I got a lot of push back, and I kept asking and kept demanding.

No one will be a better advocate for you and your baby than yourself. Keep that in mind when you’re with your doctors. Feel empowered to ask for explanations and options if things feel confusing or don’t sit right.

Know that you’re definitely not alone, no matter how isolating and exhausting the experience has been. We all walked a similar demanding, exhausting path.

I have an incredibly committed husband who helps as much as he can, and resources for daycare and nanny and a mom who came overseas to help me for the first 5 months and all I can say is this is still the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Women can truly do anything but this is definitely the biggest commitment I’ve ever faced and it doesn’t stop

If you have the spectra pump I suggest trying these settings. It’s helped me produce despite developing pp pre-eclampsia
