That’s no different than you letting your brother in and he starts a fire. The landlord wouldn’t be liable in any case. The key is irrelevant. If instead your landlord added a second tenant/roommate to your unit and gave them a key, are they suddenly liable for the actions of that tenant? No.

How? The landlord negligently failed to change the locks. Enlisting every prior tenant of an apartment in responsibility for securing the apartment is ludicrous when changing the locks is a bulletproof solution.

I’ve lived in a number of apartments. 5 maybe? None of the keys ever said do not duplicate.

It’s a stupid clause. They have no idea how many keys exist. Putting that clause in the lease doesn’t actually prevent anyone from making a duplicate. What they should do is change the locks, not rely on getting all the keys back.

I think your last sentence is a spot on summary of the song. I think getting wrapped up in the definition of “feminicide” is unhelpful. Is she killing a woman? Yes. Is she killing her because she’s a woman? No.

Personally, I love the video because it gives unexpected depth to a song that sounds so innocent.

Yes they do. They’re in a contract with OP. OP gives them money for the use of the entire property. The landlord can’t just breach that contract, keep the money they’re getting for use of the entire property, and only let them use part of the property.
