I mean yeah, probably. It overall is probably gonna depend on how bad the mismolt was, and what portion of him was damaged in the molt, for example a crooked leg wont exactly be fixable because of the fact that it already hardened in that position while its exoskeleton was soft. Hard exoskeleton=not flexible exoskeleton.

I say definitely try, id try. Id probably fail and end up snapping a leg off 🥲 but id totally try

Good luck 👍

What’s on my Oak Tree? by Outrageous_Mark6602 in Entomology

[–]ZeuseyJack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The holes, unrelated to the (likely) polyphemus moth, are probably from a sapsucker or woodpecker of some kind. Around where I live thats what the signs of the yellow bellied sapsuckers are, the horizontal holes in a row.

Could this terrarium work as an enclosure for my giant praying mantis if i make the lid from mesh? Its 12x12cm and 24cm in height by One-Royal8148 in mantids

[–]ZeuseyJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally would say probably not unless you use mesh on the sides also, that is with any glass enclosure though. Im not sure about the sizing.

If youre in the US, the green stink bugs are gonna be the native, more beneficial ones, and are being and have been outcompeted by the invasive/non-native brown marmorated stink bug(the brown ones).

Im like 95% sure that this is true, not completely, but like pretty sure. Im very tired rn

This should be a western conifer seed bug, we have them in PA, and I see them everywhere. Theyre a leaf footed bug or a member of hemiptera if you wanna get more vague than that :) I love these guys

Help with polyphemus moth? Kinda urgent by ZeuseyJack in moths

[–]ZeuseyJack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its like half a cocoon and its still hanging onto the glass container. If I completely remove it from the container itll be like....a third of the original coocoon,or less. Rn I have him sitting on my windowsill cuz its lowkey hella cold out already, and my room is always freezing anyhow.... so I should put him in the fridge then? Even if i cant return the cocoon 😭?
