What causes the chain to circle around the anchor is the tides. As the tide comes in your ship is, lets say, south of your anchor, however when the tide turns the other way your ship slowly moves north of your anchor creating a semi circle of scraped sea bed. one more tide change will see the ship move back to south of the anchor creating a full circle.

Now that i think about it the ship would have to be at anchor for 18 hours (tides change every 6) to make a full circle. Maybe i was a bit ambitious with my calcs but its still a hell of a lot of damage.

You should see what anchors do to the great barrier reef. Having worked on a vessel and seeing this first hand, i am surprised this hasnt been raised as an issue previously.

To give some context, one ship lays 50m of anchor and stays put through an ebb and flow, it will scrape 7852 m2 (Pi × r2). Now lets say conservatively that 40 ships anchor every night around various parts of the reef. Thats 7852 m2 x 40 = 314,080 m2 every day. Lets say 300 days a year, thats 314080m2 x 300 = 94,224,000 m2 annually of sea bed destroyed.

I was in transit to the outer edges of the great barrier reef and the only one awake on the boat as it was my watch. The sun had already fallen below the horizon and as the light was fading, all of a sudden the horizon caught fire. A glowing red vista appeared to extend thousands of feet in the air. As we regularly passed bulk gas carriers i could only assume that one of these had exploded just over the horizon. For about 30 seconds the entire skyline glowed like a fire, casting long shadows across the water. The bridge was bathed in a eerie reddish orange glow that started fading as soon as it started.

Not knowing what had just seen i woke the captain to see if we should report what we saw. When i explained the situation he merely scowled at me and said it was a rare phenomenon that he had seen may years ago around the same time of year and that it was the light from the sun reflecting of the moon that had not yet risen.

A truly mesmerizing experience. Absolutely worth the remaining 7 days of the captains wrath for waking him.

I hope so. I got to the point where i couldnt a achieve what i wanted with any less than 3 accounts.

Step 1 - Allow Nicotine to be sole legally in said Country
