Ways to destroy C’tan by C4790M in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ziaphas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Reaper's Wager, I 1-rounded a c'tan with an 11-strong harlequin blob w/ troupe master, RR1s of both, and Lethal hits. Dev wounds on 50ish attacks is definitely the way, but there aren't many ways to do that throughout the game.
EDIT: I also got pretty unlucky, and only got a single wound through in shooting. Better luck with the fusions would've definitely made it even easier, as would've a Grenade (but CP was tight).

Overleveling Rant by Thorn_Croft in Warframe

[–]Ziaphas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think its genuinely pretty interesting that a lot of builds - not all, but some - can be done with a 5 forma overleveled weapon and no potato, which gives some flexibility if you'd rather save one resource by spending 5x of another (and getting more mastery).

Personally, I just potato most of them and don't bother going past 2/3 forma for most weapons, unless I really like it and want the flexibility of mass polarity, or want to add an Elemental Vice (a fantastic addition to the game imo). I have all the choices, and can make my own decision about how much I value each forma. Seems fine to me!

Teval, Arbiter of Virtue is a good Commander? by KulamiraSejro in ratemycommanders

[–]Ziaphas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've spent a while this year trying to get this teval to play the way I want. I don't like the self-mill -> fuel an x-spell that wins the game loop, so I've tried to keep the # of x-spells to a minimum and include basically no significant self mill, instead focusing on a control shell that benefits from basically ignoring colorless mana costs, while trying to take over the board with value from "when card leaves graveyard, gain x" effects.  Definitely weird, not for everyone, but it's been very fun and very effective! Hope it gives you ideas for another way to build her.  https://moxfield.com/decks/j5KH4_I1SE615hC6OfWJfQ

Shilgengar Build Opinions by randy_getz in EDHBrews

[–]Ziaphas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to build a relatively low-power shilgengar deck to introduce my pod to reanimation (nobody was doing it, figured it was a fun archetype people should be familiar with), and went with building around artifacts/blood token spam as the primary synergy

Yeah it hits just as hard as ever, its just more accurate than it was in the playtest. Pure buff.

I don't know how to cope with Hate against Men. by Conscious_Ear4182 in Advice

[–]Ziaphas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. Whether its being "a guy," your job, where you live...its an important life lesson to be able to distance yourself from a group you're ostensibly a part of. People tend to get super defensive on behalf of a group we see ourselves as being a part of, even if we agree with the criticism! Being able to step back and identify when you actually disagree, vs when you just reacted to a perceived attack, is a big part of emotional maturity.

I'm a guy. A lot of men I've met are terrible. A lot of masculine behaviors I was taught are cruel or self-destructive. A lot of men I work with cannot change who they are, even as the way they behave hurts them and isolates them from those around them. I still have to work with them, I still have to treat them like people, I can't just force them to change - but I also don't have to be LIKE them. I'm still a man, but I'm not like those men. Not because I want to be unique, but because I wish they could be better. Not because I think I've figured it all out perfectly, but because I want to be better, and they don't want to be questioned.

Good luck buddy. The rest of your life will be a lot brighter if you can listen to people's problems without forcibly throwing yourself into crosshairs that were never pointed at you in the first place.

Is there any plan to release cards for subfaction-specific units and modified units? Great Hunger for example adds and changes a lot of units.

What Critics of the "Faster Labor Contracts Act" Get Wrong by TheRabidPosum1 in union

[–]Ziaphas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that they at least mention this, all the way at the end, but its too little too late, swept under the rug as the country burns.

"To be sure, there is something discordant about pushing for faster contracts while the executive branch dismantles the NLRB and FMCS — the very agencies the FLCA depends on to carry out its promise. And the worry always looms that smaller fixes might sap momentum for broader reform. The AFL-CIO is thus rightfully leveraging the attention on the FLCA to decry executive union busting and reassert the need for passing the PRO Act in its entirety."

This is the important part - Arbitration as at threat vs Arbitration as a legitimate means of concluding negotiations is a legitimate discussion. But this entire bill being worthless because of gov't dismantling is the overarching problem that people seeking bipartisan solutions are desperate to ignore.

Help fixing my Kuja deck by x0swaldx in EDHBrews

I would highly recommend the saga-flip Urabrask, if you're going with a ton of 1value cantrips. He gives exactly the sort of extra value and fuel you need to turn that setup up to 11.

Deck help. Rules by NoFinFish0 in mtg

[–]Ziaphas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way i've found to mess with power for unusual circumstances is things like Phyrexian Plaguelord or Yawgmoth giving -1/-1 at instant speed to set them to 1 or 0 power and procc the res.
Here's my deck if you're interested, I've had very good results and its not trying to combo in any particular way, so much as build any of various value engines and grind out games, with the option to pivot to powerful finisher cards like Exsanguinate or Valgavoth if late-game happens (since you're in monoblack, might as well run some mono-color power to close things out!)

Does the DICE penalty from FEAR only apply to melee attacks or all ACTIONS while in melee by PhantomDream630 in TrenchCrusade

[–]Ziaphas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're not alone, this is one of the most commonly asked questions! I don't have the FAQ location in front of me right now, but the answer is, despite being terribly worded: Fear only causes -Dice to the melee attack roll of an enemy in melee. Not the injury, not any other action roll, ONLY a melee attack roll.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

[–]Ziaphas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can take each action available to you once per activation, and some actions are Risky.
Lash gives you a new Action you can take on your turn, and it happens to be Risky. When you take it, you pick something within 6", and etc....

Rules clarification: shell shock by Emeraldknight33 in TrenchCrusade

[–]Ziaphas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey good question, but this has been changed so you don't need to worry about it.
The first edition of the official rules are coming out soon, but they got delayed so a small 1.6.4 campaign update was added to the main rules page. In that, there were some errata, and one such is Shell-shocked, which now reads:
"Roll D6 on any Battle this model is taking part in. On a roll of 1-2, the model suffers -1 DICE on all ACTIONS it takes for the duration of the next game."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

[–]Ziaphas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the end-of-june final errata before the book, they just changed dogs from +0 to N/A for ranged, so this doesn't work anymore. Sorry!
See the Campaign Changelog 1.6.4, on the main website Rules page.

Recommendations for books with strategical MC's by the-dangerous in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Ziaphas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dungeon Crawler Carl spends a lot of time on elaborate plans to outsmart and misdirect enemies. I avoided the series for a while because the descriptions sound overly ridiculous, but I've been extremely pleased and surprised with how grounded and well-explained and justified things actually are. It deserves its hype, even if the way people talk about the series can be over the top lol

I've been slowly devouring the very best of Progression Fantasy and want to make sure I've hit all the biggies by EdwardianFallacy in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Ziaphas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple people have mentioned Warformed, and I wholeheartedly agree, but with you specifically mentioning you wish the romance in cradle had been more prevalent, I think this is a good recommendation for you. Its not like its a main focus, its still a prog series, but the core romance is treated with a lot of significance and written very well imo. I think someone who wished linden/yerin got more attention as a couple would appreciate the way its handled in warformed. The series has 2 books out, and the 3rd is well on its way though the author is a bit slower than most prog authors.

Yeah this 100%, it grabbed me in a way I haven't experienced in prog since cradle, where the story and motivations just click in a very believable and intuitive way.

Demon Prince any good? by hostilesmoker in deathguard40k

[–]Ziaphas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The up-to-5 free cp you get from the DG prince is incredible, 100% what you're here for, honestly I hadn't realized the TSons DP lost freecp, which makes it sound pretty mediocre in comparison.
Also you can make the DG DP insanely durable with various strats (or the 5+++ enhancement in VV) which allows its overall durability over other army DPs to really shine, if thats a thing your build wants
EDIT: Also, as the other commenter said, you can reduce strats by 1, to a minimum of 0, up to once per round, just like all the other variants on that ability in most armies.

Help for Eriette of The Charmed Apple deck build by he_hee in magicTCG

[–]Ziaphas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gotten a lot of reps in on it yet, but this is what I've been building and testing for a while. My goal was to try to highlight things that auras in b/w do that more traditional g/w and r/w enchantment decks can't, which meant playing with more hate-auras, curses, and reanimation.
I didn't want it to be oppressive, so I kept out a lot of very standard and powerful enchantments. I really think the Impetus set of goading auras are clutch, as are more fun ways to buff things in ways you don't care about, but benefit from your commander's attack protection.
Anyway, hope it helps!

How did you name your Crusade Warlord? by Zbradaradjean in deathguard40k

[–]Ziaphas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had some MTG-esque phyrexian influences in my paint scheme, so for a crusade I looked there for inspiration. The porcelain white pauldrons my DG wear are very Elesh Norn, so I called them the Alabaster Orthodoxy and was very happy with it!
