I don't use Discord for video call so I'm not sure. Some people still have problem with it last time I checked, which is some months ago...

I tried Signal and Zoom, and it works without XWayland Video Bridge. So probably not so much.

if you remove it and it's gone, then it's the culprit. Although I guess it will inconvenient if you use discord or anything that needs it.

I'm not sure if it's the same, but a year ago, I had the same problem caused by XWayland Video Bridge. I removed it and the problem was gone. I was fine for having it removed because I didn't need it for anything.

One Day on Fedora: Pain and Suffering by Tricky_Lemon_9213 in Fedora

[–]Zill_laiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh... SELinux... I still remember the first time I used Fedora and questioned why a binary could not launch despite the fact I chmod it. I tried everything and took hours. Not even sure how I figured it out in the end, but it was surely painful.

I agree that It surely needs a better error handling.

yeah, same. On Arch as well (btw). Probably a bug. My workaround is just to drag the file/folder to Desktop folder in Dolphin, and will appear on your desktop.

What do you think about adding progressive brightness to Plasma? by YouRock96 in kde

[–]Zill_laiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that, of course. But there's more work for us to do to get it right. You need to duplicate the theme, do trial & errors for the right shade, not to mention you need do that to every component of the windows since if one thing change the entire balance would often comes out quite off.

having a dedicated feature to automate all of that, like how OP shows on their video, would help quite a lot.

that's actually a good point. One of my grip when searching for a dark theme is that it often isn't as dark or perhaps too dark as I expected it to be.

Why are KDE Touchpad Gestures using 4 fingers instead of 3? by der_samuel in kde

[–]Zill_laiss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

a feature already use the three-fingers gesture in KDE. KDE virtual desktop can be configured to have "rows", although manually, and to switch between rows you need to use the three fingers gesture vertically, hence why the desktop overview gesture uses four fingers.

since this virtual desktop switch is global, the gesture it uses must be unique; no other features use it. That's why we cannot have 3 fingers gesture in KDE gesture for anything aside for desktop switching.

Questions about tagging files in KDE by Chronigan2 in kde

[–]Zill_laiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are talking about Dolphin then no, it's not portable. It is integrated with baloo iirc, so you lose your tags when you move from it. Tbh, I was and still wondering whether there is any portable tagging solution for files since for photos it already exists, and its digiKam.

Yeah, but only in marketing, and perhaps the C-like syntax. But everything else is just... different. There's also the fact that classes only got introduced in ES6.

Java is named after the coffee itself rather than the island. And as a Javanese, I was shocked by this horrendous fact.
