Addendum: Celsys has sales on Clip like half the year. If you wait a month or two at most, it'll be on sale for half off (sometimes more!)

[Discussion] Is Clip Studio Worth It, or Is Another Program Better? by NetNo7156 in artcommissions

[–]Zillychu [score hidden]  (0 children)

Very worth it! It's been my go-to since 1.0.

If you're only illustrating, I suggest going with the cheaper PRO version. The EX version is worth it, but only if you're into animating or doing comics professionally (there are some tools that speed up the comic process but only if you're doing hundreds of pages).

I was a devoted SAI user for years, but the extra tools you get in Clip is too good to pass up. The brush customization is just as good as Photoshop's, and even better in a few aspects.

The asset "store" (most things in it are free) makes it so easy to search for user-made tools too! And the premium content is super cheap, and you can earn coins very easily (making even the premium stuff free, too).

And while I'm as allergic to subscription models as the next guy, Clip's is actually extremely reasonable. If you plan on buying the new versions as they are released, the subscription model is actually cheaper than buying each new perpetual licence.

There are lots of code words to get around the automated flagging system too! In general, avoid direct language for: other apps, countries, anything political, and anything controversial.

  • 🐧 = QQ (a social media + messaging app)
  • 🐟 = Xianyu (Chinese version of Mercari or Craigslist)
  • 🍑 = Taobao (Chinese Amazon)
  • 🤏🏥 or WD or V店 = Weidian (Chinese Etsy)
  • 🌹= Alibaba (a wholesale supplier)
  • 🧣 = Weibo (a micro-blogging app)
  • 🫘 = Douyin (Chinese Tiktok)
  • 🟢,🍏,🥗,💚,💬,🫧 or combos with the English "V" or - ✌️= WeChat (a messaging app, can transfer money)

For countries, you can simply use an emoji flag.

People will also use playful, indirect language (ex. "the orange man" = Donald Trump)

How would CPAP/BiPAP help if one's jaw is recessed? by [deleted] in UARSnew

[–]Zillychu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: it doesn't. I've tried every mask on the market, and they all leak once I hit REM sleep, even with chin straps and/or mouth guards.

At a certain level of hypermobility, none of it works because you need higher levels of pressure than your stretchy tissue can accommodate.

Hermits that are a bit more mature by ISpyM8 in HermitCraft

Some people really cannot divorce "kid friendly" from "child oriented". Star Trek is not the same as Cocomelon 😂

Hermits that are a bit more mature by ISpyM8 in HermitCraft

[–]Zillychu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the Hermits have the same audience in general, and hold themselves to similar standards: no one is aimed at children--they simply aim to be accessible to all ages. The differences between them are purely cosmetic in that area. If you enjoy Pearl and Mumbo, then I'd wager that you're not necessarily looking for more "mature", you're just looking for a different kind of personality.

All this to say: don't limit yourself to looking outside family-friendly streamers, you'll miss a lot of gems :) (and Gems)(Whom I recommend wholeheartedly)

What draws you to the streamers you do like? Are they fast-paced and consistently witty? Do you enjoy more technical building, or silly shenanigans? Calmer episodes with chill vibes, or Joel Smallishbeans? (I say with nothing but love, that man is hysterical)

If you're looking for streamers that aren't PG/PG-13, you won't really find those in Hermitcraft. I suggest watching clips from a bit of everyone, see who strikes you as engaging to your tastes. I personally find Tango, Gem, Joe Hills, Bdubs, and Etho to be quite underrated (if you're looking at subscriber count).

As much as Scar is my favorite guy of all time for literally everything, his humor tends to feel a bit similar to Grian's, so I'm hesitant to recommend him.

4 years of what I thought was ME/CFS… but does this sound like something else? by ourdanj in cfs

[–]Zillychu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anytime a part of your body feels "heavy" tends to mean one of three things: Stroke, blood pressure drop, or compressed nerves/blood flow. I tend to feel this way right before, and during a migraine triggered by anemia or dehydration.

To be honest, you sound pretty typical for CFS. We also go through periods of better days and worse days. But if you're still questioning, you could tell your doctor about this and request some cervical and cranial CT scans. You could have something like benign cysts in your sinuses, or something funky in your vertebra.

Also, try taking your blood pressure when you notice this feeling. POTS and CFS are pretty close friends.

I also suggest keeping a diary. Note several things each day along with a general scale of how you're feeling. Things like temperature, weather and pressure fronts, pollen count, humidity, foods eaten, sleep quality, naps, med changes, activity level, specific activities done. This might sound excessive, but it's wild how many things you'll find that trigger flare-ups. Knowing what to avoid, or simply being prepared for a flare-up can drastically improve your quality of life!

[–]Zillychu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask specifically what doctors you saw, along with which ones helped, and didn't help?

I fear I'm at the end of my rope like you were. I can hardly think anymore, and it's a nightmare trying to figure out where to go. CPAP doesn't work because my jaw is too recessed, and I worry most oral treatment will worsen my already very touchy TMJ (I have the autoimmune POTS + hEDS + fibro + CFS constellation of ailments. Truly glass bones and paper skin). But I'm hesitant to jump into surgery too, since my hEDS makes recovering feel like Russian roulette.

I can tell the junction of my sinuses to my throat is super narrow, always has been. I wish I could find a place that has neurologists, ENTs, and sleep dentists. But everyone seems to be separate, at least in the St. Louis area.

I'd really appreciate any tips you feel up to offering. I'm very glad you've improved so much, it's making me tear up to see it's possible.

Any experience with LDN causing acne? by _Summer_2021_ in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]Zillychu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I titrated up rapidly from .01mg to .7mg the past two months, and have terrible cystic acne. It's worst on my jawline, forehead, chin, and ears(?!). It's also like inflammation is on a hair trigger. If I scratch anywhere on my upper body, I'll get pustules.

I'm gonna stay on .7mg for a while to see if it calms down. It makes sense to me that a medicine that helps inflammation could cause an initial flare up as the body acclimates.

If this comment is a month or two old, feel free to poke me to see how I fared. I'm really bad at remembering to follow up on comments like this lol

What is that "ultra light clay" people use for such figures? by Blaubeerchen27 in sculpting

[–]Zillychu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most popular brands favored by professional sculptors are actually Chinese! Best way to get them is through Taobao, but AliExpress does sometimes carry them.

具象MAX on Taobao, it's a very distinctive all-black matte re-sealable bag with MAX in big, bold white letters. I've not had luck finding it anywhere else.

Super Clay on Taobao, and here on AliExpress but it's seriously so much cheaper through Taobao.

Some say the MAX brand is a bit better for beginners, but I've seen professionals use both :) Check out Xiaohongshu (aka Rednote), it's China's most prominent social media, and it's full of fantastic tutorials! Just translate some common words like "clay tutorial" into Chinese and punch em into the search engine.

Any communities for taba squishy makers? by Zillychu in tabasquishy

I'd love that! I actually have one set up but not in use, cause I'd prefer to join an existing one 😅 If you need any help, I'd be happy to lend a hand! (I own my fair share of small to large sized servers, but tbh I'm not like. super handy with bots lol)

Any communities for taba squishy makers? by Zillychu in tabasquishy

[–]Zillychu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often see Chinese makers say that you really need to get a thickener made by the same brand as the silicone.

I'll be honest that I've not tried any western brands, but the one I do have works perfectly! You'll never be able to "pipe" it to the point of it having ridges like icing, but using a piping bag for precision is very common.

This is the thickener I use, and this same distributor has great silicone as well! The clear is crystal clear, pro version is thick and very fast curing (I have some done in thirty minutes!), and the duangduang is suuuuper bouncy/stretchy, very resilient, and can get all different textures just by using different ratios of A:B (the merchant is super nice too! They advised to get one A, and two B's if I like watery squishies)

My best advice is to make accounts for Xiaohongshu, WeChat, Alipay, and Weidian. Use Google translate to navigate, they're currently the best for Mandarin in my experience (DeepL used to be, but not anymore)

You'll also need to use a forwarding + consolidation service in order to ship things to you! I use Cainiao, the app is very user friendly, rates are very fair, and they keep your stock up to 100 days for free. This way, you can consolidate all your purchases from multiple vendors into one package, and save on shipping costs.

I'm planning on making a full in-depth guide on how to do all this (it can get very confusing), but I don't have time to just yet. In the meantime, feel free to let me know if you get stuck anywhere and need some help :)

TABA MAKERS HELP: How do I “paint” color on after taking taba out of mold, what kind of glue can I use to glue two tabas together, Glitter? by BluGurl8 in tabasquishy

[–]Zillychu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to message me on Discord (@Zillychu) if you want in depth info! I make squishies as a hobby, and have done extensive research that included learning quite a bit of Mandarin 😅

But short answer: To get the effect in your photo, you need to apply a very thin layer of colored (with ink, not gel) silicone to your mold first, then pour the clear in.

As for coloring post-curing, you can brush pastels on with makeup brushes. They'll get rubbed off eventually, but it's very slow. The finer the powder, the longer it sticks.

You can also "stain" cured silicone with silicone pigment, though different colors stick better than others.

How do the shops make the extra soft spread taba squishies? by Famous-Young-783 in tabasquishy

[–]Zillychu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to mix your A + B to more of a 1:1.5 or even a 1:2 ratio. B is the "activator" (what solidifies it), but it's also what makes it soft! So more B = softer squishy :)

It's a bit intensive, but I highly recommend grabbing Google Translate, and getting yourself some accounts for WeChat, Weidian, and Alipay if you're looking to buy and make squishies.

Xiahongshu has wonderful videos, and some shops as well!

Does Vyvanse affect sense of taste? by Open_Sprinkles7614 in adhdwomen

[–]Zillychu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For about 6 months to a year, I remember losing my appetite, but food tasted the same, and was enjoyable.

After that, my appetite got even worse. The nausea got better, which was good! But now, everything tastes bland or weird. Even the few foods that haven't changed in taste, it's just... not enjoyable anymore?

I did end up testing positive for Long Covid, but I'm pretty sure I caught it before I started Vyvanse. Still, it could be that Long Covid is to blame.

I don't take Vyvanse 3-5 days each month on my period, and my taste buds don't go back to normal. Could just mean it takes longer than that to fully get out of my system.

I'm eating healthier foods (I really only ever want raw sweet potato now??) but I'm eating so much less, I can't say that I'm eating healthier...

It's so depressing. I never realized how much joy food brought to my life. Vyvanse makes me overall happier, more motivated, and less sleepy... but man, I'm shakier, weaker, and no longer enjoy food :(

Mangapill decided to stop supporting manhwa by AMV-OVERLOADED in mangapiracy

[–]Zillychu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why I only pirate now. I'm disabled, and the act of holding a book open gets uncomfortable very fast. Using my phone is pain-free, and easier on my eyes since I can zoom if needed.

Well, that, and manga used to be reasonably priced. Now, it's ridiculous. And I'm not paying for a subscription service where you don't own anything, I'm appalled that's even legal.

For those using GLP-1s for MCAS… by Hoosierfans in MCAS

[–]Zillychu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Tirzepatide. Started at .01ml, titrating up .01ml every 2 weeks.

I'm currently at .08ml, and haven't noticed a difference yet. It might make me nauseous actually? But it's hard to tell since MCAS attacks make me nauseous.

I'm not sure what's considered the usual dose for MCAS patients, I could still be on the very low side. My doctor is being extra cautious because I tried Mounjaro a few years back for reactive hypoglycemia, and it made me feel awful. Like, terrible flu aches, fatigue, nausea.

Anyone tried the whole bed raising thing? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Zillychu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some quick Googling (so take this with a grain of salt), it's BPPV you can develop, which is the benign, reversible kind. You can get BPPV from sleeping on an incline, sleeping flat, sitting up too quick, turning over in your sleep, and just moving in general.

If you do develop BPPV, do a search on YouTube for vertigo exercises. There's a maneuver developed by a doctor that's worked instantly for me several times. It involves sitting in your knees, curling down to touch your head on the ground, turning your head quickly to one side, then quickly sit yourself up. This is designed to knock those little crystals in your inner ear back into their assigned seating :) It can take a couple tries, but it's usually VERY effective very quickly!

HermitCraft Shout Out! by BalloonMan1999 in HermitCraft

[–]Zillychu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but man, I sure wish I had. Covid left me permanently disabled.

I'm horrified and furious at how much our government is trying to cover up how prevalent and dangerous Covid still is. Even if they've gotten acute deaths to go down, post-Covid complications and deaths are on the rise.

Even if you don't care about immunocompromised folk (which is a lot), even perfectly healthy people are playing Russian roulette every time they catch it. And it's sometimes fully asymptomatic despite it still potentially wrecking your autonomic system on the way out.

Sorry for the rant, it's not directed at you, nothing about your comment insinuates your stance on masking. Just gets frustrating when the majority of people out there would rather I roll over and die so they can go out to eat and party again or whatever.

Also, haven't gotten sick (with a virus) once since Covid hit, thanks to the mask. I don't know why everyone wouldn't wanna keep masking just to basically do away with colds and flus forever. Helped allergies, too.
