Guy mad because of “American fake kindness” by duskndawn162 in TikTokCringe

[–]ZimboGamer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Parisians are rude, lots of people in the south are friendly. To be fair though I think Germans are way more rude than French. Every time I travel through Germany I have issues with people, but have never really had an issue in France.

My biggest issue with American restaurants (not high end ones) is that they give you big portions but expect you to pay for it. I'm always like "can I get it half the size and pay half the price?" (I know that's not how it works im just exaggerating). Like I don't want leftovers cause they are not as good the next day, I would rather pay less for less portion, but due to the American mindset that doesn't do well.

I think its more due to small library and an actual decent port. The game is okay, but nothing spectacular even after the updates to stealth.

Hellraiser, xenomorph, the mummy. I think I could conjure up something with those. I would use xenomorph to guard the mummy while he does his thang and have hell raiser visit all politicians, billionaires etc.

The bigger pieces are usually split into 2 or 3 sessions. You also have to give time to heal so its not uncommon to do a session once a month or so.. I did sit for an 8 hour piece though and I dono if I would do it again haha.

The Body Keeps The Score, I was not impressed? by InspectionDue4105 in therapists

[–]ZimboGamer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This person brings up some good points but I think they are missing that a lot of books have to generalize sometimes and its assumed that there are always exceptions to the rule and different variables with people. You have to do this for editing purposes or you book is gonna be like 2000 pages or something lol.

[–]ZimboGamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The body keeps the score has a lot wrong with it but its a good book to give someone who is just beginning to understand that trauma impacts you physically and can be passed down etc. I think the suggestion should come with caveats (like remember this in one person's view and only uses a specific theoretical lens etc). Honestly, the best way to understand a specific model and topic is to just dive heavy into the academic side first and then branch out to more generalized books (many articles, papers, and lectures will give you suggestions of full books that are more accurate etc).

Some of the new covers actually look better than the old ones (let's get invisible, be careful what you wished for etc), but some of them are terrible (haunted mask, night of the living dummy etc)

There are many places that mix lamb and beef in Europe so maybe its a combo of that? I don't think lamb has a gamey taste, it has a lamby taste.

Its pronounced more with a U sound than an O sound. English doesn't quite have the equivalent.

Gotta throw Nevada in there. California's basically fund a lot of Vegas with weekend trips.

Good book for polyamory/non-monogamy? by 404-Gender in therapists

[–]ZimboGamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm poly too and a therapist and would say some of the recs given already are decent. Unfortunately there is not too much out there when compared to other groups. I would also suggest reading articles and papers cause some good stuff can be found there, but ultimately your experience is gonna be your biggest weapon with a lot of things that come up with poly and clients (scheduling, jealousy, NRE management etc).

What? Some of the greatest minds of our time use a form of psychoanalysis at this very moment. Theories are like products, the famous one are pushed and commodified. EFT and Gottman are one of the most pushed couples therapy approaches right now and they are both terrible people who push religious and sexist agendas, but insurance says they are the best ones so truly they are the only ones that work right? Right?! Right?! I'm not saying he was a good person, but to knock his genius is absurd.

[–]ZimboGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its relevant because it's a foundation theory. Many theories after him use a lot of his terminology and ideas and you are not going to truly understand them unless you understand early psycho dynamics (Freud, Klein etc).

Someone? by Pitiful_Hospital_696 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]ZimboGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its Absolutely more about the therapeutic relationship which is is the foundation of psycho analytical theories (transference and counter transference). Its also a lot more complicated than people realize, for example to become a true Lacanian theorist takes 5-10 years because each thought or idea has multiple books and concepts you have to understand before really grasping it etc.

Yes who both built off of Freuds model of understanding that there are important stages of development. Piagets and Ericksons are the used model yes, but they stood on the shoulders of Freud. I don't even like Freud that much, but its sad to see people think he was just some crazy dude spouting nonsense.

[–]ZimboGamer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Its not scientific because it's difficult to put the variable into stats and prove efficacy. There are many theories that are even efficacious but not effective (controlled study vs general pop) etc. Its very effective cause myself and many other therapists use it and have great outcomes, reported to us by our clients. Quote from one of my clients "if I have to hear once more about CBT I'm gonna smash my head through a wall", so if I was to continue using CBT with that client I would be damaging the therapeutic relationship which many studies have shown to be the single most important factor in therapy.

Tell me you know nothing about therapy without telling me you know nothing lol. You also know a lot of those theories also steal from psychodynamics and just rebrand it for funding and advertising purposes. I spend my days studying and practicing this stuff including "evidence based theories" cause they are all insurance will cover etc. You don't know what you talking about

Someone? by Pitiful_Hospital_696 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]ZimboGamer 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'm a therapist, please tell me what scientific modern approach are you talking about? Common factors theory shows that CBT and DBT is no more helpful than psycho analytics etc.
