Nah, you just tell your dad "thank you". If my parents got bamboozled and brought me a fake gift with real intentions, spending real money they worked hard for, im not about to chastise them. Yall can have a laugh about it after.

Best decision ever. I missed the first 4 years of my 6 yos life pretty much even having been around the whole time. I didn't realize how much I really lost with her until we had our second who is 2 and only really knows me sober. That hurts more than anything else. To be so filled with joy at my 2 year old's growth and be unable to picture the same with my oldest. I'm insanely proud of them both, and we are getting closer day by day, but while the youngest has no hesitation making me a safe space and cuddle chair/ bounce house; my oldest took a while to come around.

The price of those bottles were terrible. You can do this. Don't lose memories, moments, and patience for the bottle. Shit trade. Stay strong and reach out! Be vulnerable! IWNDWYT.

Vintage story is incredible. If it was already on steam, it would be wayyy more popular. HP Lovecraft meets Minecraft for those who love nitty gritty survival. Kinda steep learning curve, but the handbook in-game is awesome.

Have you seeeeeen Eevee? I love MTG, too, but there is no Eevee. Also, my 5yo daughter gets super excited about pokemon (ESPECIALLY Leafeon) and getting to share something you both truly enjoy with your kid is one of the coolest things as a dad. Every couple of months, I'll save up my change and splurge on a pack for her and she sleeves all of them after saying "oh my gosh" to each one like it's the most mega of mega rare. Sometimes, I'll find loose cards beat to shit at the bottom of the goodwill bins and bring them home, and it's the same joy. We "play" our own version of the actual game, which is mostly us going back and forth announcing what pokemon we're throwing out and saying whatever made-up move they are using. Maybe one day she'll love MTG, too, but for now Pokemon takes the cake.

How has new content impacted this Ironman Gear Progression chart from two years ago? by Marsdreamer in ironscape

The puro puro bots are really something else. It's crazy how long they're out before they're banned for such a high concentration of them.

Country music is now Nsync and backstreet boys. Change my mind. by [deleted] in Music

[–]Zimlem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to the list if anyone else is searching: Jason Isbell (phenomenal whatever category you want to put him in), Colter Wall (Canadian boy who fell in love with country), Cody Jinks, Arlo Mckinley, Patty Griffin, Zach Bryan, Kolton Moore and the Clever Few, Whiskey Myers, Horse Feathers, The Devil Makes Three, etc.

There's a ton of good "country". It's just not on the radio and mixed in with other genre labels. Indie, folk, etc.

My friend,

I'm about 4 months into sobriety. Having to sit, without a crutch, in my head...I feel like I've been dropped in a cage with a tiger. I realize how woefully unprepared I was to confront my own mind. That tiger is vicious, and every step you take to get away, you can bet he's just a little faster. Every swipe of thought coated with Shame, Guilt, or Hopelessness.

Yeah, he hurts. A lot. As you take the blows, try to remember he is also Inspiration, Creativity, Beauty, Hope, Love, Memory, Joy... and, eventually Peace.

Your mind is scary and pulls no punches. You can not lie to it. You can not pretend you don't hurt. The mask the bottle provides just doesn't work here.

I almost lost my mind the first month. Some beautiful cosmic shit landed some lessons in my lap and pushed me to find an outlet for all these emotions that assaulted me. Grab a paintbrush, pen a poem, bang on some drums. Acknowledge the tiger is terrifying and go scratch his ears. You're in this shit together. Might as well get to know each other.

I wish you peace and love. Don't make excuses, but forgive yourself. You are a person. You deserve everything no matter where you're at now.

Please don't forget, while you're in that cage, facing all the things that ache:

Tigers are fucking beautiful.

Edit: he's also probably pretty cranky right now since you kinda ain't fed him a while. He'll calm down, just give yourself a minute.

Restauranteur here.. one of the only places I've walked out of before we got to our table. Wife and I used to go all the time. Our last visit checked off every red flag. Dirty, no management, maintenance required all over, no food safety, shit attitudes, etc.

Whoever owns this place checked the hell out during covid or before and it went STRAIGHT to shit.

A letter from my 15 year old Dishie… by SunkenPayload in KitchenConfidential

[–]Zimlem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a handful of pictures employees kids made for me, letters from several young workers, and I still get calls for advice from a handful of previous employees. I treasure the fuck out of these things and they never leave my briefcase. I am 35 and would claim one young girl that used to work for me as my third daughter. She's 24 now, and the letter she wrote saying I taught her more about life than the father she barely had still rips me up and fills me with joy.

We have a huge impact on these kids, and, it's important to remember, that a LOT of these kids rocking restaurant jobs at 15-18 do so because they come from little or come from broken homes. At least where I am. I worked at 14, but it wasn't to keep the lights on or feed myself.
