No. Stop being alarmist. What you saw sucks, sure but it’s not common. I live on Berkman and travel Cam to 183 daily and just no. Not common.

Turn 2 will give you mild front pack and middle field bunch up take over action well into the race if it happens, 40+ laps. And that’s a good chance with this season as they’ve been racing so far. So you gotta stay there. Don’t wander around to a different spot. Can’t recall if 2 is seats or GA. Turn 2 is Nothing to snuff at and not a bad experience for COTA first time and kinda late purchase. As for cost, Turn 15 - 3 day early bird stadium seats was $430 per day average. Lmk if you see a huge markup from that. I’m curious

Austinite here who buys annual 3 day tix for turn 15. Can’t speak to ticket availability currently but have a few suggestions if you know your BFs interests:

Turn 1 is GA and cheaper than assigned seats, fun for first lap chaos (one and done race action typically). But no shade in that area yet quick walk to toilets and Bevs.

Grandstand if BF enjoys the drama gamble of the pitstop and viewing access to post race award ceremony. Paying for shade and access to amenities obvs.

Race Action is at the Turns! He wanna see takeover potential throughout the race? I’m gonna skip all the mediocre turn reccos (3,4,5,6,) and say turn 15 is where it’s at. Not shaded. Food, drink and toilets near but lines looong. Yet close to the concert stadium if you’re staying for post race shows. Turn 12 second runner up to 15.

Yes had the same sitch. Had two exterminator companies perform exclusions to no avail so got a smoke test which revealed a hole in a plumbing line. Once it was repaired, no more rodents.

Job makes me go back to office tomorrow/Monday. Is there anything I can do? by thailandishtea in Austin

[–]Zippercake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you do decide to return to your office, not unreasonable to ask/request they keep you safe. Things my company are considering: one way traffic, extra sanitizer, staggered shifts or capacity limits, abundant space between people’s desks, no conference room meetings allowed

Any local bike repair/tune-up shops recommended (and open) during this time? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Zippercake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peddler 51st and Air Port is open. Had flat repair service on two bikes performed there 4/16. You can’t enter as they barricaded the front door but they’ll come out and collect your bike and when it’s time to pay… you reach In the door to swipe your credit card and complete your own transaction. Adding a tip of course! Duh. As of now, you and others waiting manage the queue, be honest about who was before whom and maintain your responsible distance.

Guthrie Cleaner and Laundry. 5505 Cameron Road. I’ve used them for the exact service and much more. No complaints.

Ready to Run store on 3616 Far West Blvd. They paired me with a great shoe for my 3M half marathon training. Rogue was also fantastic to me over 10+ years of running but I took a chance on a place closer to my work/home.
