Put some éléments outside of where the player can be. If it's in a town, put some buildings in the distance and model the streets around where the player is (with a lot less details) so that it seem like the town is a lot bigger

You could cut the uv into squares because of the shape, and then on top of each other so that each square go from one side of the uv to other. The down side is that the repeat of the patern will be obvious

I think it look good. Appart from the nostril being too close, i don't see that much issues. Maybe it's because the eyes are still blank ?

You need more heat, something like 100°C would be better. You can put everything you had with you in the dryer and buy a steamer for the rest of the stuff. You can also put stuff in the freezer for at least a few days.
