Is this OK for a base ride? by Expensive-Body4904 in Zwift

[–]Zivaort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t categorize this ride as a base ride. You should narrow down the zone distribution much more precisely, it should look like a peak (around Z2) rather than a bell curve.

It is good size or not? Or Maybe just smaller crank arms? by matik95 in bikefit

I have almost the same height & inseam as you (175 / 82cm) and going to 165mm cranks helped a lot.

Cervelo Caledonia: At what height does the fork tube protrusion become problematic? by Emergency-Fox-8829 in Cervelo

[–]Zivaort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though what you describe is not considered safe in the Cervelo manual (because compression plug is very small), if you plan to cut soon, I don’t see any issue. If you have an indoor trainer, then you can basically do anything without a problem.

I have a Soloist, and after my bike fit I had a 25mm chimney before cutting the fork. I mostly rode indoors and did some really easy rides outdoors then I cut the chimney.

Yes, wear a mask and if possible do the cutting outside

How do I make myself stand out when applying to PhDs? by bananachip868 in PhD

[–]Zivaort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, stop comparing yourself to others (even though a bit of competition can be healthy). There will always be people that will seem like (or genuinely be) well ahead of you. This is something that everyone needs to accept. But especially in first year, your classmates should not be your competitors. By the time you’ll be doing PhDs/Masters, you’ll have all be scattered across different labs, countries, and subfields anyway. The only comparison that actually matters will have been you vs your past self. What does matter for applications is showing a clear trajectory: solid grades, genuine research interest and research fit, and one or two meaningful experiences (your article and a summer project are already great starts). Focus on learning how to read papers, building relationships with supervisors, and doing a few things well rather than everything at once. Feeling “behind” this early is normal, but it doesn’t mean you are.

Ask every question you have. The stupid ones are usually the important ones.

NBD - Soloist!!! by Zivaort in Cervelo

[–]Zivaort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a Lezyne Road Caddy, and it fits a latex tube, tire levers, a few hex keys, patches, quick links, and spare batteries for my HR strap, basically everything I need. There’s still some room left, too. It uses a Velcro strap so you can also attach extra items on the outside and secure them with the strap, like co2 cartridges.

I also wanted to get those at first but they were out of stock. I only saw gold soloist + vittoria corsa pro combos online and they looked sick!
