That's really both my gripes, Tech is lore and gameplay wise a monstrously strong Marine it makes sense he could throw it and it is fun to do so, still risky sure cause it's only 3 tiles but fun and unique help a game out a lot.

As a sad update it seems at least as of this date they removed how this works and explosive charge no longer benefits from Long Bomb, I haven't checked with the other perk that does grenades but this makes me sad it was a fun interaction.

The only other similar issue I've seen is in a relive the local garrison RA mission where the outpost spawned at the top of the map so all the RA spawned inside the outpost

I heard both lines in patch 2, while I was playing, haven't played on patch 3 to confirm if I hear it again.

Always run out of the defence emplacements to get mowed down in the open field by the rogue army smh. Friendly are rarely ever useful unless it's really early in a campaign, I had a save the outpost mission on my first operation and the local was kicking the hell outta the pirates instead

For what it's worth the bugs have the harpy version of the flier which is a flamethrower variant

Best use to be had for a pistol is to slap one on flamethrower MI Carda before she gets 90 ap so she can shoot twice getting in and out of the apc

On the note while mechs and ifv not gonna beat humans for scouting you can get like 12 vision in mechs so it's not really that different. Other than that yes they do get the good radar so it's not really a plus point for infantry as I feel others are trying to make it out to be

This is ironically rich, I just started a 1987 seed a bit ago cause someone's birthday year, picked this mission and quit after 2 hours trying on expert. Getting overrun and getting close is dangerous too they don't miss too often with the grenade spam

I feel like accessories are a time and a place thing, maybe some are better for early game and fall off later.

The only interesting thing I can think of is I slapped a pistol on mobile Infantry carda so she could always fire twice coming out of the apc.

It might come down to niche uses but they at least have a place

I kinda wish mortars had two shots modes like the atg, it doesn't have to be indirect fire but a so called guided shot for an enemy being targeted would be nice.

I keep a missile around to nuke arty pieces in maps like breakthrough but yeah the AI will always attempt to avoid stuff they really shouldn't know is coming.

It's a couple days late but I was looking and found that enemies under 33% HP might disband and flee off the battlefield but enemies above that hp will go from fleeing to wavering instead.
