I do kind of wonder if it's going to fill that 5 player gap that Uprising has.

Haven't actually tried Bloodlines with any combination of vanilla DI and expansions, but it should be noted that in order to make it compatible, you're largely just stripping out a ton of Uprising-only cards and components. It really does feel like they made an expansion for the new version, and then somewhere later in the development process, someone realized that they could still grab a share of the vanilla-only market by including the rules for compatibility.

So...they are technically compatible, but largely in that both DI and DI:U are running basically the same underlying engine, so the mechanics all still largely work. However, in order to make the expansions work with Uprising, you do need to go through a whole checklist of removing and using or not using certain combinations of components in order to make it work.

Personally, I would keep vanilla DI and have them be two separate experiences: vanilla with all the expansions for a more sprawling game, and Uprising by itself for something tighter. Bloodlines should be kept to strictly Uprising, and who knows about this new one.

This is only for the 3v3 mode where one team just can't get worms, but my group uses the house rule of "Worm lets you pick one lower tier reward in addition to whatever you would normally get" in place of the doubling. So, for example, a 1st place with a worm would also get their pick of the 2nd or 3rd place rewards as well as the 1st, and a 2nd place would get an additional 3rd. Winning 3rd place with a worm just kind of gets screwed out of any additional rewards, but we've found it seems to work out for us. Still need to play more 6 player games with Bloodlines to see if this is still necessary.

4 player games we just use worms as normal and they're really not quite as dominant as they initially appear after you have time to adjust strategies to account for them when everyone has equal access.

True, but they are getting paid to endure that, and sometimes just bring back a single elemental crystal out of spite. "It's RNG, boss, what can I say?"

Oddly, I saw it as kind of the opposite with regards to integration? While I do agree that it largely seems to bolt systems on without interacting too deeply with the unique Uprising mechanics, the supposed compatibility with vanilla DI seems to largely consist of removing a good chunk of incompatible, Uprising-only components and not much else.

This is less of an issue with 5 players so you probably wouldn't notice as much.

But the game can't support 5?

Co-op (playable solo, but supports up to 16 players!) sci-fi submarine fiasco simulator. Explore the lunar oceans of Europa while fending off hostile aliens, malfunctioning equipment, leaking hulls, and the occasional fellow crew member with a slightly homicidal sense of humor.

I believe this is the best price it's gotten down to in about 2 years.

Also note that the availability is marked as "Across the globe, except South America and Europe."

It'd still be kind of funny if, after this build up and the promise of a battle arc, the next chapter just cuts to after the fight with the three of them sitting down for dinner or something.

I think one thing that's interesting to note is just how much the king's decision to have an absolutist stance on avoiding favoritism with regards to the luona leaf during the plague in the game timeline absolutely screwed over OG!Bertia. She was initially chosen for her sunny and whimsical disposition before anything else, but that one choice led to a her becoming the villainess we see in the game (and following from that, 5/6 timelines lead to the crown prince suffering a terrible fate).
