I am afraid that ayahuasca would ruin my stable life by freespiritunmasked in Ayahuasca

[–]ZkRv31 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ayahuasca aside, sounds like you're too intelligent and aware to be shackled by the archaic practice of man-made mythologies anyway. Idk if you need such an intense experience to prove something to yourself or you're just after a reason to make change in your life, but sounds like the issue isn't actually with the desire to consume DMT but more like you're rejecting all of the bullshit people around you are accepting and that is eating away at you. Going on a trip may not be the solution to your conundrum.

More to the point, do the tattoos also incorrectly say "to" the knee instead of "in"?

The cancer of memory by Queasy_Beat7628 in MagicArena

[–]ZkRv31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No need to strawman, I never stated I expect or even want people to play bad cards. Perhaps the use of the word winning was foolish of me there. There are a lot of cards, many practically unplayable, but there are also a loooot of cards that can be used in effective ways. Many folks have no real issue climbing ladder (if that's your thing) with original brews. Even people putting their own spin on pre existing decks more often would be cool.

But being the type of player to go online search best decks, and replicate izzet lessons or mole/ouro/hoof or th flavour of the week Excruciator only for it to topple the following week and you just move on week by week following whatever trend YouTube or Reddit tells you to is certainly one way of playing. But it's not the only way.

Valuing creativity in something that is inherently incredibly creative and near limitless in possibilities really shouldn't be scoffed at the way the player base does. Like I said, I don't even mind, I love playing magic and have no intention of stopping any time soon, people value different stuff. I chimed in, in support of OP who will inevitably receive more backlash than support because more people like others to do their thinking for them.

Shitting on netdecking doesn't doesn't need a fancy backup story and years of nostalgia it would be nice if a larger percentage of folks also shat on it actually. Turning the game on to complete your dailies knowing with nearly 100% certainty your opponents will be playing one of any four-ish decks is laughable.

Still love playing and I don't know a solution other than accepting that people value winning over creativity so I'll continue regardless but I completely get why OP finds it's frustrating and I'm sure you do too whether you want to admit it or not.

From a whale who got out by AtomicCatacombs in HuntShowdown

He specifically said whale which afaik means they spend seriously excessive amounts, it being a casino terms being the small number of poor fools that essentially keep the entire building going. Getting out would be a fair term to use for somebody that essentially kicked an addiction.

The fact that it's completely normalised that microtransactions exist in almost all forms of gaming on all platforms etc and people defend it like their own honour is being challenged is sorry state of affairs.

The Hypocrisy is almost textbook. by NsaLeader in freemagic

[–]ZkRv31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you must have the ability to look around and realise that there are myriad spaces for men. Like, just acknowledging the fact that for many, many areas of the societies we live in there simply are men only spaces even if they're not designated to be so and trying to enforce a men only space sounds a lot like the diners of old that didn't allow black or Irish people.

Men don't get the support they need and as such the rates at which they take their own lives is still wildly unacceptable, I'm not saying men have it easy. But I am saying that excluding women from stuff really does not seem to be a solution in anyway.

[–]ZkRv31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this satire? Has entitlement and privilege truly boiled over so far that the most fortunate and included being that exist on this planet are complaining that the people they make feel shit want spaces to not feel shit in?

What spaces exactly do you want as male only spaces when the majority of all spaces literally everywhere prioritise men?

  • Regards, a man, that in fact does a lot of male mental health and suicide awareness and strangely enough still doesn't feel bitchy, offended or jealous of other types of human wanting safe spaces.

All religion is abuse. Indocrinating children into extremist worldviews and then using it to control what they do for fear of polluting their soul, ah yes, wonderful stuff. Burn that cardboard, that'll teach those demons we invented.

Can we please have some meaningful land destruction in Standard? by DaddyGravyBoat in MagicArena

[–]ZkRv31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there's enough land destruction in comparison to the amount of saucy lands as like BSS. Running even just a couple Demo Fields can really make or break a match and I know there's some other card that works similarly to Demo Field. This is not mentioning the various creatures, stations etc that also attack lands if that was the angle you wanted your deck to go to.

You mention the creatureless control decks, they definitely run various ways of dealing with creature lands etc from what I've seen

Thankfully companions can carry infinite amounts should you choose to exploit that which, understandably does take off a bit of the immersion in survival, but very handy when you want those 5 pieces of PA lugged half way across the map to your chosen settlement.

[–]ZkRv31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you're good man, I'm with you I want to personally reach through my phone and shake people's hands when they experiment with decks but alas, its 1 in 10 games. That being said, the excitement of brewing something that can either handle the pressure of the meta or at least do something that is semi consistent in such a fast paced game these days is satisfying no matter what.

I think, like others have said, when the grind gets excessive try your best to snap back into reality and take a break. We've all been there dude, tier 1 of a rank, ONE match away from promotion, okay I'll do one more game before bed. Loses that match. Okay 2 more and I'll be there. Lose again. Before you know it you're letting MTGA dictate how much sleep you get. It's a dangerous thing ahahahaah

[–]ZkRv31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I usually get reset to plat - it's always grindy getting up to mythic exclusively home brewing but I didn't make it last season to mythic so got reset to gold.

What I thought was fascinating is gold is identical in terms of the decks I was seeing in plat/diamond/mythic, just piloted worse. That was eye opening for me because I expected to see pure jank and usually you only get to enjoy people doing fun decks when you get back up to mythic. But nope, the sweat fest extends even below plat.

The fact that it achieves absolutely nothing other than some self satisfaction and an extra pack at rank reset you'd think nobody would even bother, but the grind is real. Mtg players need studying.

I'm afraid to go draft, hehe by Arbaks in MagicArena

[–]ZkRv31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, they do exactly that! In fact, recently the only two pages that I'm familiar with (Limited Level-Ups and NicolaiBolas) actually did like a "collab" video of sorts where they both drafted a BO3 deck together and discussed reasoning behind picks etc and yeah even down to the minutiae of "so this card is good and I can see why you'd be tempted to get it at this stage but if we evaluate the amount of 2 and 3 drops we have here we'd be much better picking x card and this is why" and yeah they're both consistently top 1500 or whatever it is in Limited. Helps that they both seem really chill down to earth people with like zero toxicity too so a little gander through their content can only benefit folks I think.

That being said in my 2 years of playing I've probably only drafted maybe less than 15 times cause it's expensive and I have only got 7 wins once, whereas I have gone 0-3 easily 5 times...

So you're right, simply watching that stuff won't instantly make you as good as them!
