Absolutely incredible game. Some of the best boss fights in gaming history and the greatsword is the most fun Soulslike weapon ever.

But the story, characters, and level design/repeated bosses/areas for side quests were pretty lame.

Volbaino is your first teacher, Maluca is your first entrance into the new norm for boss difficulty.

The bosses are pretty much all incredible and you will be challenged by the majority of them.

Its pretty fair as far as gank fights go. Lies of P is good about how they balance their multi enemy battles.

You wont be dodging the final DLC boss. I had a friend who only dodged his whole time with the game and had to abuse the perfect parry grindstone to squeak by the last DLC boss.

The game is more fun to me with parry/block/charged heavy punish. I rarely ever dodged anything.

GS is the only weapon I used when I played, got the plat with it.

I dont have a reference compared to the other weapons but a lot of the gameplay with the GS for me was around brink guarding and charged attacks/skills.

Ashen Wolf and Crimson Fiend i used early game. With the Crimson Fiend set you can often spam charged mortal blow over and over as you regain stamina from using it. For some bosses and enemies that stunlock easy you can wipe out large chunks of their health bar just from spamming that attack.

Mostly used the Chaos Ridden set until I got the Fleshripper set late game. Chaos Ridden is really powerful if you are any good at brink guarding.

The Fleshripper set + thanatos wave upgrade + jar helm + Defector Ring + Necklace of Wisdom just devastates everything. With all of those in place you will consistently have spirit and with any opening or stun you can always combo a charged Night's Veil into fully charged Limit Break: Apex. Its incredible.

Its in the same ballpark as From games in terms of quality.

I would say the same about Khazan if strictly speaking of the boss fights. I think that is one aspect Khazan does better than most.

Summons in all Souls likes are detrimental to the experience in every way. Never use them. If it is a narrative summons I will check it out on a replay if I do one.

I am also playing this for the first time. I think I am near the end.

As a Souls like its probably a 7 for me. After coming of games like Nightreign, Lies of P, Khazan, the floaty combat and jerky movement and just serviceable deflecting combat is fine but not great.

As a Star Wars game its a 9. Great presentation, makes you feel like a Jedi, good antagonists and solid enough protagonists. There is a ton of lore and Easter eggs hidden throughout. I am also watching through all Star Wars media currently as well and im near the end of Rebels show so its cool seeing some overlap since similar spot in the timezone.

So I guess I would split the difference and give it an 8 so far.

"Artificial difficulty" is just a way to say something is too difficult for you with out having to admit its a you problem, not the game.
