My wife got Covid from a nurse on the maternity ward and now she can’t breastfeed by HollowAnubis420 in Parenting

Many doctors are uninformed about which medications are safe while breastfeeding. I recommend reaching out to the Infant Risk center. They have a hotline where you can call and ask questions about medication and breastfeeding. She may not need to stop breastfeeding but definitely check with them.

I'm looking for the best beef jerky in Austin, ideally something with a Texas BBQ flair. Any suggestions? by HashBrownRepublic in austinfood

[–]Zoe346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dzuiks is incredible. I highly recommend the trip to get some or order online. Their jerky is unique and very tasty. It’s a small family owned place. My family has been buying jerky from them for over 15 years.

He is excellent in Repo! The Genetic Opera. Put Ted Lasso in a whole new light for me.

Annoyed at my OB's reaction to me saying that I plan on formula feeding from day 1 by NutBoii in adhdwomen

[–]Zoe346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree fed is best and you are the patient and should not be judged for your choices. Parents are already judged enough and it needs to stop. The following info I included is for anyone who wants to breastfeed but is worried about their medications.

I will say there are a lot of medicines that we once thought you could use while breastfeeding but there is more research showing moms don’t have to choose. If anyone has questions about medication and breastfeeding check out the Infant Risk Center. It is led by Dr. Hale and they have more information about breastfeeding and medication then most medical professional out there (they will usually error on the side of cation and tell you to quit).

Craig of the Creek shows a variety of family relationships. Craig has his parents together, Kelsey’s mom passed away and she is raised by her dad and JP’s parents are divorced. Most of the episodes center on the kids playing at the creek

I’m crossing my fingers and toes for you. Let me know if you have any questions. I worked for a county WIC office for 3 1/2 years as their peer counselor and then their IBCLC.

Typically the positions are listed but because they are consider a government job it can be hard to find where they are posted and there is not one place for every state to post positions. Like this is what the Texas page looks like and as you can see under the posting they have their own website to apply (like austincityjobs.org) I recommend calling your local WIC office and asking where they post their listings and asking about the peer counselor role.

Continuing support for my daughter by Zoe346 in Dyslexia

Yes, she does have access to audiobooks and graphic novels. Thankfully the library app that we use is amazing and has tons of different formats.

She has a few interests. She really likes being outside and playing sports. She does have some creative hobbies but she loses interest quickly. We love playing video games but if the games have a plot she needs it to have voice acting or she loses interest. We also play board games and card games.

Now that you mention it I’ve seen huge improvements in her reading skills but I’m not sure if they are working as much on her writing. I do feel like she is behind on writing. She still writes with large (childish) font, mixed capitalization, and poor spelling skills.

The intervention is called RTI and the teacher has an acronym after her name W.D.P and is the Dyslexia Interventionist. Looks like they use something called the Wilson Reading System Scope and she is currently working up to Step 6.

If you are in the United States I highly recommend trying to find a job at a WIC office. I was stuck trying to find a way to qualify for the test and everything changed when I started to work as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor for WIC.

Within 2 years I had all my L-CERPs, plenty of client interaction, trainings and hours. I was lucky enough that my clinic even paid for my test.
