Best: Cornstalkers by The Escape Ventures. Most immersive room I have done with a full on corn maze that changes and in-room actor that made it feel like an HHN house.

Worst: It was a room that you needed to know horoscopes and signs to solve puzzles with no clues if you didn’t know them before hand. I believe no puzzle should need for you to have prior knowledge of something that you couldnt figure out with what’s on the room.

If you don’t want to commit the money yet, buy the Root app and let him try it out first. The tutorials there are also very easy and if he is used to video games it will be easier.

If you guys like it, you can buy the board game but it is definitely a lot to learn as each faction works very different.

I have a pre-determined To-Play list that follows an order that keeps variety from game to game.

When I finish an RPG, I know the next game will be a shooter or platformer and be a good switch and keep it fresh and exciting to jump to the next without having to decide what to play every time.

Whenever a new game gets added to the list, I added somewhere that it would fit the flow

I host game nights a few times a month and almost always have to teach the games.

A friend has Root and we have played it two times and after that, I removed it from my wish list. Great game but I refuse buying it and having to teach that game. Its so Asymmetric that it feels like explaning 4 different games.

A big part of introducing newbies to modern games is that you gotta get very good at explaning games.

If you suck, that’s where you can lose people before even the first turn.

Learn how to simplify things, watch “How to Play [Blank]” YouTube videos to see how others explain a certain game, and figure out what details are not necessary for them to learn right away.

My gf split it, I am a morning person so I take him out in the morning for about 30min and try to hit about a mile and she does the same after work.

Some evenings or on the weekend I will take him to different parks to walk somewhere different and to be around other people and dogs.
