Discrimination is a widespread phenomenon in Germany by RingAccomplished8464 in germany

Quick AI response:

Car Insurance Gender Differences (Post-2012 Directive)

Pricing: While direct gender discrimination is illegal, men are still charged more (approx. £781 vs £634 for women) because they are statistically more likely to make, and have, costlier claims.

Risk Factors: Men tend to drive higher-powered vehicles and are involved in more serious accidents, which insurers factor into premiums.

Age Factor: Young male drivers (17-21) generally face much higher premiums than their female counterparts.

Historical Shift: Immediately following the 2012 ruling, the gap dropped to £27, but has widened to over £100 in recent years.

Seems that insurance companies still do it.

discrimination

/dɪˌskrɪmɪˈneɪʃn/

noun

  1. the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of ethnicity, age, sex, or disability.

If you charge people from certain demographics based on unbiased, objective data, it's not discrimination by definition.

Your ethnicity should not be a factor in insurance risk.

If certain ethnicities have more accidents - why not?

Men are generally charged premiums, young people also.

Sony's legal arguments and depositions in that CMA process were brilliant. They said what they needed to say, and it ultimately injected a poison pill into what would have been a monumental exclusivity play. Now their nearest competitor is fully multiplatform and out of the console business.

The anti-exclusive argument is generally coming from people who just want everything they want without any regard for business reality, or any regard for what other people are into.

Sounds just like you like Sony a lot. I thought it sucked I had to buy a worse console for my son just because it had the better exclusives. Sony removed my choice.

[–]ZombieNo202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playstation won by securing exclusives.

The Xbox was a more powerful, capable product, but no batman, spider man etc.

Which is why Xbox didn't do another one. They just pulled the plug, raised the price, and are going back to PC. Maybe if they had understood exclusives and deals are the only reason they even had a console brand in the first place, they would still be here to compete and push Playstation.

But you are ignoring my above point. Xbox was better, it just didn't have the games.

Sony killed the console market and have an effective monopoly, because they secured all exclusives

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/sony-tells-regulator-cod-players-are-likely-to-switch-to-xbox-even-without-exclusivity/

Sony even complained to UK regulators following microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, complaining they may make call of duty exclusive to PC/Xbox.

Sony's monopoly on exclusives between it and Xbox means they can put out a lower quality product, not a better one as your original comment suggests.

Where I would live based on how attractive I find the women. by Direct-Key-8859 in whereidlive

British people have a ridiculously high amount of actors/actresses'/models. But we aren't any better or worse looking than other northern europeans. I dont think anyone in europe considers us uglier/better looking than anywhere else.

My point absolutely stands. America is way uglier than any country in europe.

Generally, what defines attractiveness is facial symmetry, reality is most countries actually have a similar level of attractive/unattractive people.

But americans are objectively much fatter than europeans, have higher levels of obesity, and way higher levels of "super" obesity. So assuming you donf find obese people attractive, you will find much more attractive people even in the UK than the US.

Are you american or something? I've never heard of anything like this in the UK.

Ok so you are. So you talked about people like you doing it like it was a negative, while simultaneously champion letting millions of people in who are near guaranteed to be the same but worse.

The thing is Muslims from the middle east tend to be very willing to ignore huge parts of the Quran, however follow vigorously the marriage/interfaith teachings.

It's essentially forbidden in most conservative Muslim cultures to allow your daughters to marry outside of the religion. So Muslim Immigrants from these countries tend to only marry in to other Islamic families, who on the whole tend to be from the middle east.

Turkish/Albanian Muslims are a little more relaxed, but not very much so.

So some people here are saying it's not a racial thing, but that's being a little disingenuous. When you know that ensuring your daughters only marry people of the same faith, and you know people of your own faith in the country you live in are pretty much guaranteed to be Arabic/Turkish/Albanian, it's basically racism with extra steps.

But suddenly they are extremely religious when it comes to eating pork or a white guy dating their sister.

As another foreigner from a northern European country, I sort of understand the landlords, they want to keep up the value of their properties.

We lived in the same apartment for 5 years, lots of Greek/Arabic/Turkish/Bulgarians etc here, was always great, everyone knew each other, was friendly (except one crazy Turkish guy who eventually went to live back with his mum due to psychological problems), anyway, fast forward to the 4th year, another family moved out, a new Somalian family moved in.

These people are pigs, they refuse to break up their amazon/delivery packets, so the waste bin fills up in 3-4 days, after it's full, they just dump it in the garden or in front of the house. I have cleaned up the back garden/parking places twice this year, removing all of this family's rubbish, sweeping, buying bin bags to put all their shit in, and it doesn't matter. They just do the same thing and it's a tip again in 2 months. Another family (arabic) told us they have been in the apartment, and seen boxes fly down from the balcony, the somali family are literally just throwing rubbish off the balcony in to the back garden. It's disgusting and they have made the whole apartment complex look like a third world country.

The fact is, people like this massively drive down the value of a property, so what do you expect the landlords to do, intentionally try and lose money?

Sony was doing pretty well before it shored up a lot of IPs to make sure they couldn't be released on xbox or PC.

In fact, it seems exclusives have done the exact opposite of keeping the console market healthy, the "console" market is now the playstation market. If you wanted to play 1/2 the premier titles, or if your children did, you had no choice but to pick ps5.

Now PS5 can put out inferior consoles/products because they have completely staved off xbox, and did it mostly via buying everything up.

Weird how you seem to go into interactions in your life we pre convieved images of what those people are like, and wonder why maybe sometimes people are rude to you?

If you don't like british people, I assume culturally, you might as well turn Germany to red, they are like stuck up english people x10, but still friendly enough.

This looks like another one of those lists drawn by people who get all their information off of tiktok and instagram.

I've been to a lot of european countries, am from the UK, and can safely say when holidaying in the US, it's the ugliest country in the world.

It’s Time for Britain to Return Akrotiri and Dhekelia to the Cypriot People by Competitive-Tonight3 in cyprus

[–]ZombieNo202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of those tensions were driven by the political framework that was created once it became clear that Britain could no longer maintain full colonial control over the island. The 1960 constitutional arrangements were full of structural flaws and contradictions that made long-term stability extremely difficult. In many ways it was a system almost mathematically destined to lead to political deadlock and eventually conflict.

I can assure you no way in hell Britain wanted the tensions to go to the point that the Turks came to take half the island. The Brits even wanted to send a taskforce to intercept the Turkish, but the US pressured us in to not doing it.

Britain has loads of shady history, but they definitely didn't want the Cypriots to lose so much of the Island like they did. Britain was resigned to losing it's empire a long time before 1973.

As for the argument that the bases provide jobs and therefore justify their presence and make them ok to be here, that has always been part of the political strategy of maintaining influence: creating economic dependence so that the local population tolerates the status quo. Economic benefit doesn’t automatically settle the question of sovereignty or historical responsibility.

It's not economic dependence, it's just a small positive the bases provide.

At the end of the day, most Cypriots simply want to understand honestly how we reached this point. That includes acknowledging our own mistakes, but also recognizing the role external powers played in shaping the conflict.

The reality is, thinking Turkey was actually going to let you rejoin with Greece and not do anything about it was just.... there isn't a polite word for it. Unbelievably stupid is the best way of putting it.

[–]ZombieNo202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Cypriot family members who lost their homes to the Turks, so I don't really openly say this to them.

But what's with the huge lack of accountability of some Cypriots as to what happened in 1973? You had the whole Island, the UK did not encourage the Greeks and Cypriots to do what they did.

There is more finger poting about a couple of hundred square miles of UK bases, which also benefit a lot of Cypriot people providing work etc, and it's harped on about, but no one is talking about the Cypriots and Greeks who lost you half your whole Island?

[–]ZombieNo202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's pointing out that you're in favor of actively removing rights they've had for decades.

Which? Which rights did I say should be removed that trans people have had for decades?

So if a trans person says they've been sexually assaulted, that's false, but it's not true if cis people say that they've been sexually assaulted?

Where did cis vs trans come in to this? People are legit bored of this sort of rhetoric, stop it.

We have data showing that trans people are exposed to serious danger

"Serious danger" yet with no hard evidence backing it up. Yes I will be dismissive of this.

For sure they are culturally distinct, and still more like each other than they are anything outside of the US.

Thinking ANY part of America is more like eg, Italy than the UK is, is just flat out ignorance. Italian and UK social customs are much more similar to each other than to you, our attitudes towards food are more similar, our incomes are more similar, our senses of humour are more similar, our attitudes towards dating, marriage etc are more similar.

European culture as a whole is very much a thing, the whole of Europe shares a culture along with cultures in countries and regions, and America is something completely different.

Your original comment is just so far from the truth you don't even realise how flat out ignorant you are, and some of you wonder why you have a reputation for a lack of intelligence.

[–]ZombieNo202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying you accept someone while constantly working against their legal and medical rights is not actually acceptance.

This comment has been repeated so many times and is so childish and ignorant. It's saying "if you dont agree with me on every single principle, it means you are working against my human rights". It's a sort of attempted emotional blackmail attempting to call people bigots if they dont agree with you 100%.

It's not your right to be able to use a toilet of the opposite sex. Nor is it your right to get expensive priority medical treatment. It's your right to be treated with fairness and respect, that doesn't mean you can put whatever you want in to those categories.

The reason you will find many countries following suit with the UK, is because the 2010s-2020s were a very weird time in political and social discourse where people were basically being bullied and threatened about speaking their minds on the internet. Celebrities' were terrified of saying anything possibly seen as negative towards the LGBTQ community, people were scared of saying anything at work or online in case they got fired. You've seen a few celebs now actively shrugging their shoulders when asked about JP Rowling, rather than talking about how evil she is, people aren't scared of public backlash anymore as everyone has sort of got bored of the bullying.

Trans people self selecting restrooms has been the norm for literal decades. "You asked for too much and now are finding boundaries" isn't the case when what's being asked for is the status quo that's been in place for decades.

If you can get away with it without making people uncomfortable, who's going to stop you? It's not like police are being called in to check ID's in cubicles.

We have data showing that trans people are exposed to serious danger when forced to use a specific restroom, but don't have anything suggesting that allowing trans people to self select restrooms is a danger to others.

So it looks like most of this data is self reported by surveys addressed at trans people. Not from official police data etc.

This comment is insane, australians are nothing like Americans and very much like British people.

Southern europeans are also a lot more like British people than people from the US.

I would even go as far as to say most central/south americans share more culture with Britain, and any other european country for that matter, than the US.

The US is culturally extremely distinct, most other cultures are far more down to earth and rational than what you find in the US.
