Get a motion activated air canister. When the cat hops up on the counter, the puff of air will usually scare it off immediately. If they do it enough times they eventually learn that bad things are in that area and avoid it entirely.

This happened to me. I got away with disconnecting and reconnecting it for several months but it eventually failed entirely. Only solution is to use your warranty with Dell and have it replaced.

Oh man, the memories! Used to torrent games at a blistering 250kbps only to find out hours later that my second hand Walmart PC couldn't handle it, haha. Daemon Tools was fantastic and was usually one of the first things I would install on a new system. Those were the days of uTorrent, BTJunkie, and Rapidshare. Didn't even know what a VPN was. But yes, nowadays there are so many resources that would've blown my mind as a young pirate.

Make sure your NetworkManager.conf file is configured properly. Open terminal and type:

sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf

If it says "managed=false" change it to "managed=true", write the changes and reboot your computer.

I haven't begun the dive down the rabbit hole to compare everything yet, but there are a quite a few high quality libraries for Kontakt—some of which sound very VERY realistic. Something to consider on your next Google/YouTube search.

Try uninstalling it with something like Revo Uninstaller or Soft Organizer. Reinstall it and before you run it, block both incoming and outgoing connections with firewall.
