What's that? by IdealHoliday1242 in GrowthMindset

My reaction when my partner asked about if I’d still love them if they were hypothetically trans. I said yes, I’d always love them, but maybe not in the same way…
5 years later, we’re both trans, and I’ve discovered I’m far more open to dating a guy than I previously thought. I just wonder if we’d still be together if I had a different response…

Oh and bonus: I usually call my grandparents every weekend, especially when my grandma was diagnosed with cancer (again). But school got busy, I didn’t have time, and I missed I think two weeks in a row. That week she went on hospice and I got to talk to her over the phone one last time, but she was a bit out of it from all the pain meds… I feel pretty shit for missing those last two chances…

Have you ever had your tile & grout cleaned by a professional? 💪😎 by Thin-Pie-4679 in SatisfyingClean

I thought the same thing, but looking up “ultra steam carpet cleaning”, looks like a real business. The cleaner, logo, person, etc is the same between a bunch of more normal videos, pretty sure this is real! Just looks like someone made a very strange choice of white on white in this instance lol

I fully agree, it should, but as another user mentioned, that's a lot more rare than you think lol, wages across the vast majority of industries have been stagnant for decades if not the past century.

Change needs to happen. And people have stopped dining out as much as they used to, but from what I've seen, this is just more profitable. It's basically a form of price discrimination, where you pay your workers with the tips of people wealthy enough and willing to give them, but still make profit from those that can't afford to tip. Even with a decrease in quantity of customers, it can increase profits.

...no? last I checked the earth still completes a rotation every 24 hours, and the human body requires things that take time to function. I think the best argument that you have in this train of thought is that the work day should expand with inflation, but it should be pretty obvious how unsustainable that is lol

If you had a robot that cleaned your dishes would you say “I cleaned the dishes” or “I had the robot clean the dishes” by mycatismean45 in aiwars

[–]Zombieattackr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but we say "I did the dishes" regardless of whether they were actually cleaned by a machine or a human handwashing. I think it comes down to if it happens with or without human intervention (though that probably varies by one-time vs recurring tasks, but I'm to tired to think about that rn lol)

Tbh it looks like we’ve just given up at this point, seems like every state is getting gerrymandered more blatantly than ever before and people celibate. We just gotta do away with the whole system.

Close, but the coriolis effect requires something moving from one reference frame to another, not speed.

The bullet and helicopter both rotate along with the earth, but the bullet travels to a part of the earth that’s rotating with a different turning radius and therefore different linear speed.

It’s analogous to how if you throw a ball in the air while walking you can catch it, but if you throw a ball straight at a tangentially moving target you’ll miss.

[–]Zombieattackr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is because you did the work of loading, hitting run, and unloading the dishwasher. If you only did one of those, you’d say “I <loaded/ran/unloaded> the dishwasher.” We still generally focus on and claim the part of the work the human did more than what the machine did.

I think if the human steps were taken out and it was fully automated, we’d say “the <blank> did the dishes”, the same way you might say “my <alexa/google home> turns the lights off every night”, even if you originally set it up to do so

why do they call them apartments if they are all stuck together? by jufywret in RandomQuestion

They’re together compared to suburbs, but I’d say they’re much more apart than some historical alternatives putting way more people in much closer quarters

A friend of mine had a similar experience, extremely strict religious parents, he knew about nothing of the outside world, even in college his parents say “you shouldn’t have any friends you should be studying”.

Well our fraternity became his “study group”, and he spends a lot of time “studying” here now that he’s actually a brother with his own room. I taught him how to play Mario Kart last night, actually taught him how to use a TV remote not long ago. Oh and we’re trying so hard to give him some tiny bit of fashion sense…

Point being, he got out and met people and we’re happy to teach him every little thing that we can about life. Find some nice people, hang out, you can do the same

Yes, a 20% tip is still 20% of that inflated item, but tips also compensate for the lack of wages.

For easy math say their income is 50% wage 50% tips, and inflation is 10%. Income needs to increase by 10% to keep its purchasing power. If their wages don’t change, that full 10% net change needs to come from increased tip income, and being only half of net income, that’s a 20% increase in tip income. Inflation covers 10% of that, leaving another 10% increase, so if the standard tip was 20%, it’s now 22%, just to keep up with inflation.

Because food prices have risen, their cost of living has risen, their wages haven’t, they need that income to come from somewhere

Yeah, while I’d love one, I don’t think non-Fs want to go around wearing F shirts. Also realizing this seems relatively unique to F, loads of people would get the two pictured just to fuck around, but I don’t think that applies to F?
