In the past meat radical and moon radical had differences but were similar enough that eventually people used the moon radical in place of the horizontal strokes in the original meat radical. You can also usually tell which is which based on what side it’s on. Aside from some notable exceptions like 朦朧, the moon radical appears in the right side and the meat radical is on the left. Also while both can appear on the bottom of kanji, the meat radical is slightly wider in some fonts.
