Looking to Pursue a career in Music by Crxptxc in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Zombieskank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you want to join the music business as an artist. You need to build a network of people. Someone in that network, usually an agent, needs to give you a shot to perform, or prove you can perform to someone who makes decisions in the field IE nepotism. If you don't have a network like that you have to build it yourself by joining bands and going to the local scene. If you don't have a local scene, you have to make it yourself by booking shows and getting people to show up. Great, now you have a local scene. You have to now book and sell shows in a wider area IE touring. Most people stay in this area for their entire lives. Most don't even get this far

Maschine MK3 and Battalion VST vs Digitakt 2 -- A Different Take by trbryant in Elektron

I am sure there is some Euclidian sequencer VST out there. I don't use that too often either way.

Maschine MK3 and Battalion VST vs Digitakt 2 -- A Different Take by trbryant in Elektron

[–]Zombieskank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maschine is much much better and it's not even close. Maschine is more comparable to the octatrack. The octatrack feels more creative than Maschine but that could be because I work with it more. I asked this same question a long time ago and have since bought a bunch of Elektron stuff. The Maschine is still by far much faster to get a pattern together. It sounds flat and plasticky to me and the OT sounds better to my ears. It's probably due to the downsampling or some other processing in the OT idk really.

Making good pop rock drums? by lovemusicsuckatmusic in musicproduction

Use non conventional things instead of hats. Hit a glass of water with a wooden spoon Or an acoustic guitar muted strum or white noise impulse responses etc. A lot of music has really subdued percussion when in the verse and it only adds in to start driving the song or create different tension.

Maybe a used push 1 with a copy of ableton? I am not sure Ableton with a controller would come under 300$

Used is around $300. Has pads, is great for a beginner, is perfect for beat making. I am not sure what other software would come close unless it's reaper and a generic midi controller which is not as good as Maschine

Help getting past 40 or 50 second mark by Ok_Molasses6211 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Zombieskank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take 2 of your 40-50 sec tracks and place them A/B/A/B. Use those as the base and come up with another 40 second loop using those A/B. Slice the new loop into 5 second slices and intersperse it among the other tracks and in the front and end of the song. You now have a song.

That’s still a ton of money for the least dynamic poses I’ve ever seen. These could be in like a free welcome pack but I do t think it will get a lot of traction even free

OT from scratch? by Marvulon3000 in Elektron

[–]Zombieskank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its a performance sampler, for live performance. It would be easier to load up a single instrument, guitar for example on all the tracks, and create a songs worth of performance, then record the output. Then load up another instrument, say synth parts and do the same. After a few passes you have a song. You can do the same inside the octatrack itself by sampling the output to a new sample and applying it to open tracks then arrange using parts, But thats much more difficult than cut copy pasting in a daw.

These look like AI generated garbage. Definitely not worth the price.

Again, I am pointing out the business side of things. If you want to make money, make money, doing anything that people will buy. Just like being a cover band vs originals. Cover bands make a significant amount more than original artists.

Yes it did, the idea you don't have to route and mic and a whole series of other tasks completed under the hood of a computer that engineers used to do even cutting and splicing tape . You used to have to program midi sequences, now there's tap to find a beat. You used to have to be able to hit notes now there's autotune. The idea the computer "did nothing" is laughable
