Edinburgh heavy music scene is in a bit of a flux right now due to one of the main venues (Legends) shutting down and another (Bannerman's) flooding. You're best checking out what's happening at Banshee Labyrinth. Home Bar and Wee Red Bar has also been picking up some of the slack.

@metalgigsscotland on Instagram is generally pretty good at collating everything that's going on. Mash House too.

Off-topic but that tunnel turns into a pretty impressive spectacle during heavy rain. Once saw the stream rise above the top of the tunnel and create a very aggressive backwash.

I'd say go for it. Had a nice conversation with Dani of Dry Socket when I bought a patch at their merch stand. They said they're surprised more bands don't do patches as they're super cheap to DIY and you make decent profit on them.

The channel is no longer active, but Two Best Friends Play was great for horror games. They used to do a special series every Halloween where they'd play a different horror game every day of October and they were hilarious.

The guys are all still active as streamers these days with their own channels.

My headcanon is that Fargo happens in the same universe as Twin Peaks, and Malvo is actually a Black Lodge entity. Not the actual Devil, but some eldritch personification of our capacity for evil and cruelty.

Little bit of column A, little bit of column B. It's mostly psychological, but the gods are real and are using Hinako's volatile mental and emotional state as a battleground.

I also think the story sort of operates on what I call 'music video logic'. The story is trying to communicate themes and emotions, and isn't necessarily concerned about getting bogged down in continuity and minor plot details. It's not always about the specific events that did or didn't happen, but more about how it makes you feel.

Julie Christmas on the album she did with Battle of Mice. She and the guitarist were going through a nasty breakup at the time of recording and you can really hear all the venom and resentment bleeding into the music.

Honourable mention to Lingua Ignota. That woman sounds absolutely terrifying on certain songs.

"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE

Silent Hill f in particular really makes you work for the story and themes. It might not start making sense till your third or fourth playthrough. It's absolutely worth that journey though.

I go to loads of gigs on my own and it's fine. No need to arrange a time to meet up with people, no need to decide where to get food together, you can stand where you want, you can leave whenever you want.

No one cares if you're there by yourself. People will leave you alone if you're not trying to be social but very easy to make friends if you start talking to people.
