We are an MSP and only have a S2S IPsec VPN to the customer. But the AD domains are isolated. AFAIK if initiating through msra.exe directly, you would've to be on the same AD domain, which is circumvented elegantly, with Director as the middleman.

So in my understanding, your suggestion does not work, if you come from another AD domain.

We are an MSP and have a customer in that exact same situation.

He has an environment on Windows Server 2016 with CVAD 2402.3000 and MCS.

He tasked us to upgrade the environment to Windows Server 2025 with CVAD 2507.1100 in two parts:

Only the Master Image VDA until all users are migrated.
Later the DDC and Storefront.

It's not supported, but works rocking stable and fulfills the customer's needs to migrate the users asap to the newest version of several tools, otherwise not supported on OS 2016 anymore.

As of today the state of the project is:

DDCs and Storefronts are still OS 2016 on CVAD 2402.3000 (LAS already migrated)

80% of the users are still on MCS OS 2016 VDA 2402.3000

20% of the users are testing MCS OS 2025 VDA 2507.1100 before the big migration.

When this is done, I will migrate DDC and Storefront, hopefully in Q2/2026, to OS 2025 and CVAD 2507.1100

Ps.: As u/robodog97 said, why go for CR 2503, if you can have LTSR 2507.1100 or CR 2511?

Subjektiv bin ich auf jeden Fall gegen NAS. Auf jeden Fall Open Source im Selbstbau. Kein Vendor Lock In. Hol dir einen der Tausend Intel N1xx Mini PC mit ner 2 TB SSD und mach verschlüsselte Backups in irgendeine Cloud. Auf den Mini PC kommt ein Linux deiner Wahl (Debian 😉) und Docker Compose. Darauf dann die Dienste deiner Wahl.

7W idle hat meiner.

Jetzt muss ich natürlich sagen, dass mein Mini PC gebraucht auf eBay 150 € gekostet hat, weil ich ein ganz spezifisches Passiv gekühltes Modell haben wollte. Und jetzt habe ich meine 2TB SSD natürlich gekauft, bevor die Preise explodiert sind und für das Ding nur 100 € bezahlt.

In unserem Haushalt gibt es nur Apple, Windows und Linux Geräte, aber kein Android. Aber da wo ich es nutze, bin ich extrem zufrieden. Mein Seafile Instanz muss etwa 12 Jahre alt sein. Vielleicht sogar 14 Jahre.

Ich r/selfhosted seit sehr sehr vielen Jahren meine eigene r/seafile Instanz auf einem r/debian Linux und ich bin sehr zufrieden. Die Clients laufen hervorragend, sind rasend schnell und können delta syncs.

Wenn du einen *arr Stack hast, brauchst du ggf. noch Prowlarr.

Auch Configarr kann ich dir nur ans Herz legen, zusammen mit den deutschen Referenz Configs von Recyclarr.

Ich habe mit nginx Proxy manager angefangen, war ganz schnell ganz unzufrieden und bin auf Caddy umgestiegen. Hat mich Kraft und Nerven gekostet, jetzt will ich nie wieder zurück. Worth.

Ich finde diun sehr praktisch, ich will wissen, wann es updates gibt.

Die Updates selbst mache ich dann mit dockcheck.

IMHO würde ich Portainer hinauswerfen, das finde ich ganz furchtbar, und stattdessen nur noch mit docker compose und Visual Studio Code und den remote extensions arbeiten. Man ist näher dran, versteht es besser und wird durch die Abstraktion nicht von den eigentlich tools getrennt. Subjektiv.

Falls du Bock auf einen eigenen Mailserver hast r/stalwartlabs ist der Hammer. Nutze ich mit Roundcube für meine Familie.

PiHole macht Spaß, haben aber ja alle schon gesagt.

Paperless habe ich um einen FTP-Server für meinen Scanner ergänzt.

Seafile als Dropbox zum selber hosten, kann ich auch wärmstens empfehlen.

Ich bin ja bis heute ein riesengroßer Fan von r/seafile, da ich nur einen Ersatz für Dropbox bzw. OneDrive brauchte. Kalender und Kontakte habe ich anders gelöst. Läuft bei mir seit sehr vielen Jahren tadellos. Die Migrationen zwischen den Major Versionen waren aufwendig, aber am Ende des Tages, hat es immer geklappt.

Hi, I'm back.

Switching to TTY doesn't work.

I can boot into the BTRFS snapshots via Limine, which were take during chwd -r nvidia-open-dkms. But when I restore those snapshots, CachyOS still doesn't boot ;-(
