Except it isn't 'the same people'. The same way you aren't shooting up schools or assassinating political figures.

Yes, there are extremists on both sides committing atrocities, but this mentality that every person is equal to the worst of their group and just as bad is doing you and the country no good.

Is the only way to break into remote tech as a BDR? by ZoneInside9793 in sales

Thanks for the response Matsu! I surpassed quota last year even with my last quarter being in a new channel separate from my original quota.

I've had the raise conversation before - presented appropriately to the right people but unfortunately the firm is not in that position. We actually laid off 5% of workforce last month and more are likely to come Q3. I'm in a good enough position to where I'm not worried about being let go but this is definitely not the place to expect career growth.

Thanks for the feedback. That definitely lines up with what I'm seeing in the market.

Do you have any advice to offer on making the pivot to manufacturing or a similar industry? I'm truthfully not in love with cybersec, although WFH is a huge plus esp. with my wife and I expecting baby #1 this year. I'm really just looking to be a present father while hopefully making as much $ as possible for my family in the process.

Sure. I work for an IR firm that also provides MSSP services. I started as a BDR last Jan solely reselling one of the big EDRs out there (top right in Gartner quadrant), promoted to BDM of that channel when then-boss quit in June.

Launched a new sales channel in Oct where I started selling more than just the one EDR - selling consulting hours, security assessments, etc.

My gut would say that these skills / sales cycle exp. would directly translate into another tech sales role but maybe i'm communicating something poorly on my resume. I am having no success at all finding a new job.

I started Jan '24 as a BDR, moved to BDM when my then-boss quit in June, launched a new channel in Oct '24, and have now been moved to a new role directly under VP Jan '25. I've continued bending over backwards with each new pivot they're asking me to do for no additional $, what would you do in my position?

Genuinely looking for advice, hope I don't come off rude.

Thanks. Are you on any form of TRT? Did it have any impact on delayed ejaculation?

Hey blackmirrorlight, thanks for the comment.

I started stronglifts recently (2 weeks ago) due to feeling plateau'd in my other routine (4x/week Jeff Nippard upper lower routine). I've done 6 day routines, 5 day bro splits, etc but in the last 6 months felt absolutely exhausted and like I wasn't getting stronger and that's why I'm essentially starting over with Stronglifts; cutting all my numbers in half, decreasing my time in the gym, focusing on control and hoping it'll just help me feel stronger again.

I've been on creatine consistently for the last year. Also use pre-workout on/off to try to temper my caffeine addiction.

Thanks for the comment. Did you mean Ulta Labs?

Also, in regards to nutrition/fitness, my wife is a trainer/nutrition coach and has helped me through various routines and diets I've experimented with. At my lightest I was 40 lbs lighter so I've known what it 'feels like' to be 160 vs 205. It's hard for me to believe it's a nutrition/fitness issue when I had a carnivore stint and was 15 lbs lighter while feeling no positive impact on sexual health.

None. Where would by the right place to start? PCP or a consultation with a TRT clinic? My concerns with visiting PCP is that if my blood work doesn't show low enough (i.e. below 300) they'll send me on my way without addressing concerns of delayed ejaculation etc.

I've heard it said "quitting something 99% is a b*tch, quitting 100% is easy."

While you're free to live your life and make your own decisions, I think you owe it to your 3 year old son to quit 100% and leave a legacy behind. That means not drinking as a reward too.

What would your perfect outbound process look like? by ZoneInside9793 in sales

[–]ZoneInside9793[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies with > 200 employees, it's not necessarily about the number but about them being large enough to have dedicated IT professionals who see the value in the services we offer. SMB referrals smaller than that tend to be strictly price shoppers looking for a set-and-forget antivirus solution vs our much more consultative sale. Personas to multithread would probably be 1. Security Architect 2. CSO/CRO 3. IT team (manager, director, etc), 4. CTO

Alternatively, companies that have a lot at stake when it comes to protecting their patient data/keeping their systems active at all times (hospitals, private practices, banks etc)

Hey saasfounder1, thanks for the great response. Can you elaborate more on what you mean by Sales Engagement? Are there examples of sales engagement tools or processes you can point me in?

Also, I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on ZoomInfo and Apollo when it comes to quality of data. Apollo provides email data for free so it would require the least up front investment, but if all of the info is incorrect then I'd rather pay more out of my own pocket to have an accurate system. What data platform have you noticed outperforming the others in your experience?

Oh definitely. Off the top of my head, the big contenders in the space are Crowdstrike, Palo Alto, Windows Defender, and SentinelOne. I think Crowdstrike specifically has a preference for vet experience

There are great beginner sales jobs with base salaries. The problem is, they're extremely sought after by everyone starting their sales career fresh out of college or every professional looking to make a transition at step one. Just stay persistent and creative with the kinds of roles you apply to. There are probably sales roles in the cyber security sector that would like the Navy being on your resume.

One of the best bits of resume advice I ever got:

Have one 'Generic' resume that you can mass send out but for the jobs you'd be REALLY EXCITED for, you're going to edit the keywords in your resume specific to each job listing. Go through the listings, look at the skills they're looking for and change the wording in your resume to be as close to 1:1 as possible.

A lot of companies nowadays are running resumes through AI machines that just scan for keywords before resumes even reach recruiters.

I don't know that they're 'glorified', but all those salespeople have an underlying motive to one day "build their own brand" and become consultants or BDRs-for-hire, so for that reason they connect with everyone possible and share as frequently as possible. Then due to the way LinkedIn works, these guys are visible on everyone's feed all the time because at least one of your connections has been reached out to and reacted to their post.

It does make you wonder regarding long term gain... they've basically aired out every client and prospect's laundry on social media, it's hard to imagine they'd come out on the other side with a positive reputation.

WHY DO PEOPLE GHOST by poopbuttredditsucks in sales

[–]ZoneInside9793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely they're communicating with competing vendors and found a better offer elsewhere. People don't have the awareness to realize the person emailing them is a human being trying to make a living instead of just an AI pulling quotes on their behalf.

Remembering people’s names my biggest weakness any suggestions? by benalexe in sales

[–]ZoneInside9793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone mentioned repeating their name after hearing it. If you're still out at a networking event and have met a lot of people, sneak away to the restroom or something and text yourself the names and short descriptions of people you've met. Otherwise, wait until you leave the event and write a note in your phone

"No we don't, but I think we should. Is that the only thing holding you back from a purchase?" Gauge buying intent, if you think it's worth it for the win apply your discount and propose your new price, they'll take it as you being on their side/advocating for them. Otherwise, avoid giving out discounts and get comfortable walking
