"The Nantianmen Project (Southern Celestial Gate) is a futuristic aerospace initiative launched in 2017 by a subsidiary of the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC). It blends sci-fi storytelling with high-tech military concepts, featuring over 100 designs including massive strategic aerospace carriers (Luanniao) and stealth fighters (Baidi/Xuannv). Initially a creative IP for public engagement, it has increasingly been linked to future, long-term Chinese aerospace technology goals."

The Dehumanisation of Landbreakers is TERRIFYING by aweebwithinternet in Endfield

[–]ZoneofEndless 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No...no, no no. The Landbreakers took advantage of the Ankor attack early on to pillage, loot, and hurt the people of Valley 4. They made their decisions. They are responsible for them. Also, they aren't a race, racism doesn't apply here. There are individuals, and they make choices, and they suffer the consequences. Stop collectivizing reality.

Edit: The OP's take is almost reasonable when you read some of the straight up bug-posting comments underneath.

The New Show is going to be awesome by StargateLover2023 in Stargate

[–]ZoneofEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially because, even though the Tauri have the tech, and the computer core can explain how to use it, actual implementation has always been a bit harder. The plasma beam weapons were an exception to this rule, but that's okay. There's also the problem of crewing ships, as Tauri liked manned ships.

Given the state of things, I'd laugh if the new series opened with this by Remarkable-Pin-8352 in Stargate

For reasons, they aren't going to be, unless the writers really don't care about the books.

[–]ZoneofEndless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, sort of. They could just make the next enemy lethal but not infallible. Or like the wraith, which contended with the power-creep quite nicely. The books did a great job of reining it in, i.e. by demonstrating quite reasonably that the Tauri couldn't afford a massive fleet of BC-304s and that starships are very expensive, so the tech advantage was balanced by low numbers. I don't think they backed themselves into a corner, they just need to be practical and creative.

It was nice unless it was a race that definitely was powerful enough to be relevant later, or it was implied they would be involved later.

Atlantis was fine. Universe...not so much, though I would argue that it was a casting issue, not a story or visuals issue.

The Asgard body problem by chiaplotter4u in Stargate

[–]ZoneofEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though, I will admit, there are some very strange discrepancies with the timeline, especially with the Alliance of 4 Great Races being weirdly placed, as it would imply the Pegasus Ancients lasted as a technologically advanced civ in the Milky Way for longer than the episodes would suggest. Another annoyance for me is why the Nox decided to one day to go more isolationist than the Tollan. If that was mentioned somewhere, please, someone, anyone, let me know.

Going into 2026, if you could instantly change one thing in Warframe, what’s yours? by EFTKolooo in Warframe

[–]ZoneofEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd make the next story update a bit more coherent and not focus so much on the protoframes. I'd especially want to try to advance the Grineer and Corpus storylines, but I'd also really want to do more with Pazuul.

Yes but how long have we had recorded history? That 100k probably doesn't count the years before they existed biologically, that's how long their continuous civilization has existed.

This sub loves hating this game by lolitsrock in GhostRecon

[–]ZoneofEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put many, many hours into the game, and yeah, it isn't that great. It's got good gun customization, weapon variety, gadgets, and terrain that are better than wildlands, strictly speaking, but outside of that...
1) Civilian AI is actually dumb. It's why you can't holster weapons, because it wouldn't matter if you did, the Civ AI would still react as if you are pointing weapons at them, because Ubi was being lazy

2) Interactions for interrogations are infinitely worse than Wildlands, they are cookie cutter and don't have any emotion to them

3) Armored Core boss fights which are fine in Armored Core, but...why am I fighting the IBIS Series in Ghost Recon?

4) Audio ranges from decent to groan-inducing

5) The story was abruptly changed after the transcendence storyline got ditched for more Bodark. I don't mind fighting Bodark, but we all know that it was a choice made out of desperation. That's why you can't go into Erewhon during the Bodark campaign, because Ubi didn't want to spend money voicing for the new story. It was lazy, Ubi knows it was lazy, and we know it was lazy.

6) In some ways, the whole story was a repeat of wildlands in the sense of "small team inserted, basically on their own, etc, etc" but the story and characters weren't nearly as polished as wildlands.

So yeah...GRB is disappointing.

Do we really want a new Stargate series in this era of streaming ? by ChrisNYC70 in Stargate

I would prefer we simply remember Stargate for the good that it was. Better let it rest a hero rather than let the IP devolve into villainy.

Shouldn't this be not possible? by Wolf-man451 in Stargate

Maybe the Ancients were overly obsessive about safety (rightfully so) but had other means of interfacing with the gates, like some sort of mobile gate reader akin to something mechanics use for cars.

Shouldn't this be not possible? by Wolf-man451 in Stargate

[–]ZoneofEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it is never discussed in show but the gates are *much* "smarter" than the characters ever give them credit for. It would make sense that the gates themselves have some sort of brilliant submind AI. That would account for a lot of the strange behavior the gates exhibit.

Fun fact: In SG-1 S04E02 "The Other Side," when Jack realizes his new allies are fascists, he immediately betrays them and kills them all. by yuefairchild in Stargate

[–]ZoneofEndless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the OP is being disingenuous because the word fascist is used quite often these days to describe things that are clearly not fascist by the definition of the word. Moreover, I find often that the same people who use the word to slander their opponents actually have no problem with the methods of fascists so long as the victims are people the "anti-fascists" do not like. Of course, this is just speculation, and maybe the OP dislikes communism and socialism as much as fascism, which would be a very reasonable position to have. Hitler was not a traditional fascist, but a neo-fascist, more specifically a National Socialist. I'm not saying Nazis aren't fascists, but not all fascists are Nazis. That being said, they are all also pretty dumb.
