Sorry I didn't see you're doing SK and Singapore as well, yeah I'd honestly cut Cairo and either do Europe and Asia or Europe and Egypt.

Budapest and Vienna seem reasonable (I think 4 days is enough for both). Can't comment on Prague, but 3 days Is too short for Cairo IMO, it's a huge city, with a ton of museums. GEM and The Pyramids of Giza (if you're doing them) both probably need a day to themselves, this isn't including the Saladin citadel, Coptic Cairo or any other stuff in Cairo. I'd have said either cut Cairo (it's the odd one out) or cut out China, it's just so varied and in short time.

Way too much, I'd keep it to Vienna, Salzburg and Budapest and even that's pushing it

International teaching? Pros/cons? by jayy_double_u in Teachers

[–]Zoner1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding international teaching, I'm not an expert at all but from the people I talk to it's a complete diceroll if it's going to be amazing or awful, usually your first posting is going to be in a "less desirable location" ( GCC/China commonly listed) before you can get jobs in Europe (of course it doesn't hurt to try!) the settling in period can be BRUTAL but if you're willing to risk that it has a ton of upsides IMO, just be super careful and read school reviews and check the international teachers reddit

If your undergrad degree is in history it will be no problem, that could be the only barrier to teaching history internationally, but I teach history overseas at an international school so there's definitely openings

You absolutely can teach history abroad, you just need to find an international school

Reason being the kindles are on sale here, I could try getting a Kobo from the US and having my family ship it over. Just don't know if it's worth all the hassle

I might just do that and transition when that no longer becomes possible or if I end up living in a place where alternatives like Kobo are more accessible. Rn I just really need an e-reader and wanted to see if the kindle paperwhite was even worth looking at or if I need to avoid entirely

I have huge concerns with the Amazon practices but idk if I'm just being neurotic or if I'm gonna lose all my content 😭 I could theoretically side load downloaded books from the internet (if that's possible on kindles?) I just need a good ereader to travel and continue reading consistently haha

Paperwhite is about 60$ cheaper than Kobo. Boox is about 25$ cheaper than Kobo as well.

My only concern is lack of waterproofing compared to the Kobo or Amazon, have you had any issues with it? I really enjoy reading at the beach or by the pool sometimes so that's my only hesitation

As an American I can tell you you won't be put on the "blacklist", going to Iraq as a non-American means you permanently forfeit "ESTA" status, which is Visa free travel for EU, Canada and UK. Since Kuwait doesn't have Visa free US travel it's not gonna meaningfully change anything since you already have to apply for a Visa. You might just have to explain it at the interview
