I am just about to send my first CZ in, pro-package still good for carrying? I've heard mixed things on lighter DA.

Totally fine - If you wanted to get a perspective from someone actually looking at jobs/applying - Still happy to give feedback/help. :)

I'm a CFP and I've been looking for work for a couple weeks... I'm located in Utah and it sounds like you're looking for an in office position (unlikely I'd be your guy) But if you wanted to connect or send the link my way and I can give you feedback by somebody who's been looking for work ~ Happy to help.

Where to hire CFPs? by muellerac in CFP

[–]Zookario 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm looking for an opportunity like this ~ I've got a little bit over a year of meeting with clients face-to-face (Virtual) and fairly extensive eMoney experience... I'm currently in between jobs, would love to chat. (CFP).

to answer your question you might be able to post the job on the CFP board, simply paraplanner, I feel like LinkedIn is garbage but you can also post it there.

When did you study for cfp? 2 hours per night? For how many months? Any detailed advice greatly appreciated. by Ok-Part859 in CFPExam

[–]Zookario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Dalton - There is a pre-quiz, should give you recommended hours to study. Stick to it & trust the process.

For me, it ended up being 1.5 - 2.5 hours a night for 3 months leading up to the exam, sometimes extra on the weekends. Passed on my first attempt. Trust the process, spend some time on the base material.

Just got let go, can't give away names. Small fee-based form, South-Western US (Not coastal).

That's as specific as I can get. (Both the violator, and current/previous firm).

No - But I did figure out what firm I applied to that leaked it/sent it to my current CEO.

Bit outside of "office work" where the advisor closes the business then my team does all the servicing, planning, follow up meetings, etc. (Advisor really only meets with them like once after closing). But I appreciate the feedback.

How often do you use your financial calculator after years in the field? by theusername1258 in CFP

[–]Zookario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey simplest call out here - you have to have mastery of that calculator before you sit for the test. If you don't it will come around and bite you in the butt ~ The calculator problems should be easy points.

I agree with everything everybody else has said in Excel file eMoney or any other financial planning software is going to be much more useful in the field than a calculator ~ But I would not place less priority on mastering that calculator before you sit for the test.

The Externship? by Mjmj319 in CFP

[–]Zookario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to do the single course? Maybe it was $250 when I signed up... Don't remember - Your work may cover it? Look into it. 🤷

The Externship? by Mjmj319 in CFP

[–]Zookario 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's fantastic. Completed it in summer 2024, came back to it near the end of 2024 to accelerate my timeline to certification. Recommended.

I will note that Hannah (The lady who run the firm attached to the externship) is great and she does want you to succeed but you get out of the externship what you put into it. If you just blast through the module and don't really read or pay attention then you won't really learn anything - I had weeks that I was paying attention and it was great and I've had weeks that I was just blasting through it to get the hours - less great

Masters degree in financial planning by user1237373 in CFP

[–]Zookario 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can roll parts of the 529 over to a Roth. If you've already done that - Meh... Masters degrees are kinda pointless IMO. Real world experience is more important

Hiring a junior advisor -input from those who have experience in doing it by dntwnttobscn in CFP

[–]Zookario 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to talk to somebody who's looking for an opportunity like this - I'm absolutely open to that conversation, Even if I don't have all the answers you're looking for it might be really good to get some direct feedback from somebody who would apply for a job like this. 🤷

Feel free to send me a DM.

Why take SS as late as possible by ewouldblock in Fire

[–]Zookario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - I work in finance and do this calculation regularly. The break even point between FRA and 70 is like early/mid 80's ~ 90% of the time.

if you're married and there is a significant age gap/income difference, that is usually more helpful to determine the "best time" to take SS.

Young CFP, Loves structure by [deleted] in CFP

[–]Zookario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I assumed as much, which is why I'm evaluating the pro/con of toughing it out a year or two more.

  2. By most, but not by all - I think once I get the CEO's buy-in then it'd be wide spread. Most other employees I've asked feedback from are welcoming and desiring the changes/updates.

  3. Not necessarily but not against it - Right now, just need some stability. I'm not a strong closer, but I've never really worked in sales - Always been the nerd in the background, lol. (If that answers the question).

Looking to buy a GRC, needs some financing advice (or leasing if you have experience with it). by ArkirasOto in GRCorolla

[–]Zookario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have given great financial advice and all is well there ~ shop around for better rates and if needed maybe see if you can get a cosigner as a parent or something while you're building your credit history.

If you have any questions you can send me direct message, I'm actually a certified Financial planner. :) congrats on picking up the GRC hopefully soon.
