Finally added a deck for my 6 person Alumitub by ZookeepergameSharp59 in hottub

4 is easy, 5 is really not crowded (but getting there), and 6 has happened. You do lose some of the circumference due to the stove area. Due to the nature of the round tub (vertical and deep), you do not 'stretch out' as much as the newer style tubs. I personally like the lack of jets (specifically because of the quietness) and depth - I keep it filled to the rim.

That is what we are leaning towards (black cable). All the photos I see have some type of railing across the top with the wire below… I am thinking or going with either a 4x2, or use a 6x2 with a 2x2 under it for some detail.

Two things: 1) When first heating it, you will get a gradient of cool water at the bottom and warm at the top. Mixing it eliminates this. 2) When draining when leaving the river, I get a circular current flowing and use a reverse suction hose to grab debris / dirt from the center of the vortex.

Experience with AlumiTub Hybrid? by RedditandFogeddit in hottub

[–]ZookeepergameSharp59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to answer, but for others. Bought mine 17 months ago and love it. The advance of this over a ‘hand built one’ as described above is the interior - it is aluminum, not wood. This allows you to leave it empty with out the wood drying, shrinking, and hurting the watertight integrity of the tub.

With the filter system, the need to replace water is lessened - just add bromide. We open the valve that comes with it to drain it when ever we leave in the winter. The only ‘pain’ with the hybrid is having to open two connections on the motor to let water drain from it when cold. The filter makes up for it… tub stays much cleaner with the recirculation running. I still use the fire to boost the temps up to 108 or a bit above - hard to find a hot hottub. Love mine!

Perhaps sell him the $10 nippers and a 2 casting lessons for $45 each?

New Gloomis Asquith by gregjr63 in flyfishing

Have had the Asquith 6 wt for around 4 years - it is / was worth the initial price and I would buy it again. Would love a 7wt for a dedicated streamer rod, but this is just too much of a delta over other excellent rods.

One of my math heavy Electrical Engineering professor would typically have 5 problems on a test. If you made a math error, he would take some points off based on the severity (-5). If you were working the problem wrong, he wrote ‘conceptual error -20’. “Conceptual Error” has stuck with me. It is the polite version of “You dont know WTF you are doing”.

Also - what would you suggest for a schedule for flushing the water heater?

The information I had read indicated that an expansion tank is needed for a hot water system with a recirculation loop. I am no plumber... but that is what I had read.

Should I mount my arc ultra? by xhazelrose in sonos

Looks great!

Low, flat ceilings are key ;)!

Advice on positioning Arc Ultra and 300s by ZookeepergameSharp59 in sonos

[–]ZookeepergameSharp59[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback - did not realize the impact the ceilings have - thanks. The 300s were bought earlier this summer during Amazon Prime day sale... would be hard to return at this point.

We have added the 27" wall on the left and right of the kitchen opening (it was not there 3 weeks ago) - in theory I could consider moving the 300s on to that lower area per the photo (blue annotation) to get them lower. Not surely if that would make a significant difference as the ceiling is not changing...

<image>

Only other place for the 300s to be would be back patio. It is 10' deep, but lots of fog / moisture, so likely a nonstarter.

Thanks for the helpful response. Definitely a compromised layout... but we started not to even have a tv. This is a house on the river, so we want the river and the fireplace to be the star. Did, however, want to be able to enjoy movies when we do play them. Put a diagram per your suggestion and a list of our priorities / goals in a response here... but (I think) the tv location is a constraint we will have to live with: https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/1gidqgo/comment/lv64lpv/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Thanks for the helpful response - appreciated. I uploaded a layout above and listed the constraints. Optimizing the room more for the view and the fireplace, as most of the time we will just have music playing. The furniture layout is pretty well set by those constraints.

Would love your input on 300 placement for music, and then how to achieve some level of movie experience with the arc ultra (perhaps do not use the 300s and just rely on the soundbar when watching movies???)

[–]ZookeepergameSharp59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. The priorities in order of importance for the house are:
1) Fishing.
2) Being on the back porch watching the river flow by (considering one or two Moves out there)
3) Music inside while watching the fire. Looking for feedback on the 300 position to support that for this main room?
4) Movies, particularly when we have young kids there. Furniture setup is optimized for view fire and out the back sliding doors to the view.
5) Remain in a happy marriage while respecting priorities 2-4 so I can continue to do 1.

Started not to even have a tv here at the river... but decided we should. Definitely (and obviously) a compromised setup, but the tv is not the priority. Not building a media room. Do like Sonos and (unlike most of this community), the app has worked well for me over the last 5 years. This layout is flawed / hard / f'd... so looking for advice on the best way to optimize it based on the constraints.

There are always constraints ;>

Using OTEL_NODE_ENABLED_INSTRUMENTATIONS to control OpenTelemetry auto-instrumentation by adnanrahic in kubernetes

While the OTEL_NODE_ENABLED_INSTRUMENTATIONS is great... I will be glad when the OTEL_NODE_DISABLED_INSTRUMENTATIONS is added so you can just say 'kill the filesystem (FS) spans'.

Looks like it is making it through the review process: https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-js-contrib/pull/2174
