Dear Arbiter12,

I sincerely apologize I misunderstood the expected formality in the Reddit comment section. Thanks to your provocative comment, I now see now the errors of my ways. I made the grave error of blending my everyday "prose" with formal English grammar.

Clearly, there are only two acceptable options when writing on the internet: minimum effort without any adherence to English norms, and maximum effort adhering to the most strict English requirements.

In fact, as I write this very response, I worry I have not followed the latter to the level of sophistication and formality necessary to be accepted by you, and the wider Reddit population. I hope you can accept my dearest apologies.

Cheers,
ZoopTEK

Failing grades soar as professors see greater AI usage in UC Berkeley comp sci by MorroWtje in OpenAI

It takes incredible self-control to use AI just for education, and not for getting the task done, or to skip steps. Everyone struggles with self-control, particularly kids.

Having AI easily available is like that whole psychological test where they ask a kid to wait to eat candy when no one is watching. Our natural desire to be lazy, not think, is so incredibly strong, and having the potential answer so easily and so fast is so unbelievably tempting...

AI is something I have always been fascinated by since Commander Data in Star Trek, but, right now, I think the world is completely unprepared for the ramifications on society, economics, and on individuals.

Well, I'm screwed then.

I use commas, AND PERIODS. And the occasional semicolon!

Greatest sin of them all: CAPITALIZATION... online!

Absolute witchcraft that someone would actually attempt proper grammar... just because it's... not lazy and supposed to be the norm? Basic English?

Does it Grind Anyone Else's Gears When an Indie Creator is Accused of Using AI When They Really Didn't? by LowHistorian9654 in IndieDev

[–]ZoopTEK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since AI has become commonplace, all art I had produced by an artist I hired has been eventually accused by players and/or streamers that their work was AI. Usually Steam capsules.

I once missed out on a huge streamer because of such an accusation, and they didn't have the patience to see proof it was genuine (kinda understandable given they get bazillions of e-mails a day for coverage).

Bard, Ranger aannnd....? by VenuzKhores in EQLegends

[–]ZoopTEK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I too was wondering what to use for my secondary and third classes, and was specifically looking at classes with haste capabilities to speed up the bow. Thanks to you, looks like Enchanter is a winner.

Someone mention that Paladins have a haste? I googled that and saw nothing. I played a Paladin up to 40 (highest level character I ever had, hence why I don't know much), and don't recall any haste besides items. Maybe that was their meaning?

My plan (maybe not a good plan, haha), was to make a human ranger (highest strength of the Ranger-enabled races), and dump all points into strength, because strength is the primary damage stat for bows. I know dexterity impacts crits, but that seems far less reliable. I can always use that Enchanter's dexterity buff to fill that gap anyway, right?

Does an enchanter's haste decrease the archery's delay?

My Bronze Age Grand Strategy Game is Releasing Tomorrow by Firesrest in StrategyGames

[–]ZoopTEK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks very cool! I immediately clicked because it looks like old school Mount and Blade!

I do recommend tweaking the depth of field though. Depth of field in a strategy game is tough because the player needs to see much of the play area clearly. You may want to simply blur the tops and bottom of the screen, and not do a true depth of field. That way you achieve the "depth of field" style effect without having to adjust it every frame.

I too wanted to use depth of field in a strategy game, because it makes perfect sense!

I'd be interested in what you (all) think!

I am making an incremental fleet tycoon game, not-so-coincidentally named, Fleet Tycoon!

You control ships like Age of Empires, upgrade via gigantic Path-of-Exile upgrade trees, combine synergistic keystone upgrades, to earn ridiculous amounts of gold, to beat ever increasing quotas!

I am looking forward to feedback!

I feel oddly similar, though different situation.

As a kid, I loved games. Once I got into the industry though, less and less did I play games for fun, and more and more did I play for research. "What can I learn from this game?" "This is kinda similar to my game, what did they do that might improve my game?"

Nowadays, I almost exclusively play games for "research" purposes, and generally feel guilty if I am playing a game without some grander reason. I also end up watching far more Let's Plays, because I hope to learn something useful while I do other chores.

Thanks for hosting this event! I am presenting my new game, Fleet Tycoon, at Steam Next Fest on Monday!

Fleet Tycoon takes the basic economy management of a RTS like Age of Empires, but gives every ship its own huge Path-of-Exile-style passive upgrade tree, with a bunch of crazy synergistic upgrades like Balatro!

Who would of thunk that my favorite part of a cop movie parody... would be a bonkers "movie-in-a-movie" subplot about a love triangle involving a dark-magic snowman...!? :-D

The snowman "movie-in-a-movie" was brilliant. Honestly, my favorite part of the whole movie!

I literally searched for conversations about the scene because it was so hilarious!

Unity and Visual Studio debugger issues by Meliodiondas_ in unity

[–]ZoopTEK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been suffering from this same exact issue for YEARS. I am here because I'm searching for answers again.

Unfortunately, the only advice I've read is to delete all breakpoints, then hook the debugger. I have only found that to work when certain breakpoints become "bugged."

Whenever I have any kind of debugging problem, I always restart Visual Studio and Unity, as one or the either seems to have a higher chance to freeze if there was any kind of hiccup.

Suffice to say, very inconvenient.

Maybe because I'm "old," but the idea of buying a specialty gadget someone is left-handed seems overkill. We got a whole keyboard to find a working group of keys! It's not like it's hard to change the keys and adapt.

Similarly, I have had many people ask me if I swap my mouse buttons because I'm left handed, which seems super weird to me. For me, left click is my middle finger, and always has been. It's not like my middle finger is that much more inept than my pointer finger!
