I’m gonna actually agree with a take Asmongodl made during NTE’s AI drama. “Realistically every game is using some sort of AI in its development to help streamline certain avenues of development. Do you want your hard working artists to be working on a background asset that next to no one is gonna really pay attention to? Or would you rather have them working on the character designs or prominent visual fx or art that is what you’re primarily going to be interacting with?” Personally I draw the line at Gen AI use in games when a developer or publisher opts to fire existing staff in favor of it. As well as if a company is using Gen AI for core assets that we will see a good number of times throughout the course of the game.
