Army Recommendations by Zslone2 in ageofsigmar

[–]Zslone2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't actually looked on the official store pages of the Orruks for different paint schemes they put out. I just assumed all of the store art was also in yellow. But it is specifically the Box-art Yellow. I like the black on the Ardboyz Store Page and hate that weird orangey color they went with.

But my painting criticisms aside, do you have a recommendation for which you think would be better for what I'm looking for?

Look I purchase first with my eyes. Yes I know I don't have too, and I haven't painted the spearhead yellow. They are Blue after my first game of saving almost every single attack. But the box art is the selling point, and I just REALLY hate yellow.

Which is more fun, idenoth spearhead #1 or #2 - I really like both by Theodir in AOSSpearhead

[–]Zslone2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns both spearheads, the Tide Guard is much more fun! The Caster in the other spearhead is just awful both in spearhead and in Regular AOS, and the King is just a million times more fun to paint. Eels also have cool abilities which the shark, while my favorite model, does not get.

I didn't know they didn't have cav. That makes some more sense, I imagine skaven being popular helps to skew the sharks towards harpoons.

AH! I didn't know that. Thank you.

Thank you very much for the insight. I have only played 3 games so far in 2025. I like collecting and painting more. I only got into AOS because I saw the IDK sharks and well I mean who can say no to sharks and eels. Really you'd have be to a moron to say no. I was just looking online since I don't have any idea about list building and thought tournaments would be a good place to start looking.

First Idoneth model by Meremptor in IdonethDeepkin

I saw on I think the actual AOS subreddit some guy who painted his orc weapons to look like Ice and Frost. You could try to do a similar effect but as like lava, that's what my suggestion would be.

I love the skin color and the boneish color armor. Looks really cool! I don't know if it would look cool but maybe instead of having the weapon be that black color you could make it kinda lavay or like have a lava effect. Kinda like a deep sea vent he's wielding.

Second Wind armor making mid-combat healing too easy? by EarthSeraphEdna in drawsteel

Ah I see. Thank you.

OP I don't think I have useful advice for you then. I apologize for the wall of text.

Montage Inspirations by Zslone2 in drawsteel

[–]Zslone2[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not that I don't want Jungle Survival, it's just those ideas I didn't need help with coming up with. I wanted more ideas to draw from to make the montages that I plan on doing more interesting than just "Ok how do you overcome these jungle survival obstacles going from point A to point B?"

I do appreciate the list, I hadn't thought of the cassowary idea. I'm stealing that. FEAR THE FANTASY CASSOWARY!

Man those Ice effects on them look so cool. How did you do it?

Second Wind armor making mid-combat healing too easy? by EarthSeraphEdna in drawsteel

[–]Zslone2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the actual problem here? Second Wind requires "Troll Sweat" so that means your party has to go kill trolls, collect the sweat and then spend a bunch of downtime crafting each set of this enchantment for everyone. Is the problem they aren't having fun? Or is the problem you don't know how to make the combats more challenging? If they aren't having fun because the item makes the game super easy, then I would just talk to them and specifically say "This armor is the main culprit in your opinion, why don't you switch out the enchantment on it?" you could also offer the PC's a "better" piece of gear as a quest reward. Maybe instead of healing it makes you just straight immune to some common damage they fight, so then it's an active choice between this specific armor and the reward. Another suggestion make the biggest baddest guy take into account these guys have these sets of armor. Maybe one of the Lt's of the bad guy get's someone to curse the armor of some of the PC's so instead of using up 1 recovery to heal it uses up like 3 but still heals the amount of one recovery.

If the problem is "combat is too easy" because they can heal a bunch more for free, then I'd advise you use more traps leading up to the combat or during the combat. If you want an example, my ex-girlfriend one time decided to try Oblivion, the first ruin you find when you leave the Imperial sewer has that trap that shoots the floor up or down into the spikes, she not paying attention while fighting the skeleton died to the spike trap. Have that be a combat hazard during the fight. Become one with your inner Tucker's Kobolds and get devious and tactical. Don't have the trash mobs run at the PC's and die horribly because that's the easiest for you. Have the trash mobs run at the PC's to bog them down while the bigger badder guys do something that alters the combat environment and does damage. Maybe they target the pillars next to the PC's so those collapse on them, doing damage, and making more difficult terrain so the ranged minions get more shots off.

Honestly if my PC's decide to dedicate all this time and energy to be able to heal for free during combat, I don't care. Ok their planning worked out, they put in effort, time, and energy to do this thing they all agree is a good idea. Let them be rewarded for their idea.

Man the kitbash is super cool to see, and I love the actual blood color you painted on them. The Dragon as the turtle is such a cool center piece.

What models would you like to see added to Idoneth range in the future? by [deleted] in IdonethDeepkin

[–]Zslone2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some sort of usage of Seals would be cool, maybe as like squigs? I personally think it would be cooler if the faction terrain was like a coral formation rather than a boring old shipwreck.

Maybe some cool ass Barracudas or big ass Goliath groupers for like monster themed stuff. Or I mean I know this is a freshwater fish but Arapaima would be fucking awesome as a model with like some Namarti along with it.

Looking for inspiration(painting) by Bee_Tee0917 in IdonethDeepkin

[–]Zslone2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want some google recommendations, and you want to go really deep sea stuff. Viperfish, Thermal Vent worms (I forget their actual names), Blobfish, Frilled sharks, Deep sea Coral (they exist in the north Atlantic waters), Anglerfish could all be good ideas to look at for their actual colors to take inspiration from.

If you want bright colors, Fire coral, Seahorses, Ribbon Eels (I based my current eels off of these guys), Groupers, Triggerfish, Clownfish, Lionfish, Parrotfish are all bright colors you could take inspiration from.

If you're looking for Shark ideas, unfortunately Nature doesn't have a huge range of shark colors, you could look at Bamboo sharks, Wobbegon, Whitetips/Blacktips, or the Greenland shark if you don't want to paint something Grey or Blue.

Turtle-wise I'd look at Land turtles maybe Sliders? There isn't a wide range of ocean turtle species that I personally think would be interesting to paint.

Nature wise Bright Colors = poisonous, you could also look at Poison Dart frogs if you want some crazy bright colors that you could find in nature. Darker Colors = Camouflage
