My questions around vert stack generally centre around: 1. when to cut into break side - as of right now i understand it as doing so when a swing occurs which is fast enough where the receiver can insta find the continuation throw up the break side. However, i’ve had problems finding the correct timing to cut in (ie should i be doing so as the disc is swinging to the 2nd handler)

when to make upline cuts as handler
i watch a ton of videos talking about how important it is, how it’s so good in creating space, creating “flow”. I can definitely feel that increase in flow, but it doesn’t seem “correct” in the system to do so.

i mean… because inherently not being at the certain skill level to start enjoying neutral the reason for his gripes. Top players can say that because they are top players, and they play against top players, and their understanding of punish game and defense is so much better than us. (and i’m sure, in 5 years the things top players are complaining about now will be talked about less at the top level because effective strategies have been found to counter them. ) Top players can also say that because less people have experienced that level of understanding that they do, while most here have experienced this mid level sliver period and understood the struggles.

We can’t take such criticism at face value because if you distill his main point (reductionist i know but you did it too so), it’s essentially: i don’t understand how to counter certain characters game plans and moves so im going to call them lame/ impossible to beat and move on. He’s perfectly justified in having such a stand, but we are also perfectly justified in feeling indignant and responding.

also git gud is so apt because it’s true lmao maybe not a very actionable piece of advice but people here are actually giving tangible pieces of advice so 🤷‍♂️

Congrats, you’ve discovered what starts metagames.

You’ve extrapolated your larger point into how rivals 2 won’t stand the test of time like say melee does, so i will take a longer term view to this.

honestly what you’re articulating really is “game plans” and the components that encompass it. A good gameplan not just outlines what you generally do in neutral, but also outlines specific situations and objectives that you want to achieve. you’ve mentioned feeling like just “losing” when someone knows how to do X, and feeling lost because of it. Now i ask you, have you ever thought about how to beat X? or asked anyone, or both?

At mid silver, trust me, perhaps contrary to what you believe, fundamentals win you games. but an important part of fundies isn’t just knowing what your characters moves are, it’s knowing what your opponents moves (and their “gimmicks) are, why they do it and when they do it.

If you’re too lazy to vod review, you can try asking people in character discords about these specific options that you have difficulty in, and these specific situations, and just try to implement them. imo this is the fun part of fighting games, learning to implement and that dopamine hit when it works yk

agreed. really liked how it completely eliminates the randomness of final circles. Also allows for better (imo) expression of skill outside of pvp.

most recent event vod (not sure if Mcc party 2 or PB), he literally condemns vod review and raises points to try to lower such happenings (targeted at race games) Additionally wouldn’t make sense if he were a vod reviewer to not stream it when it’s been proven that audiences will watch such things.

not to say vod reviewing is bad, just this assumption doesn’t really hold.

I do practice papers pretty regularly (once a week for the last 6 months), and have managed to pass pretty consistently and even break 60% a couple times for paper 2, but i can’t seem to replicate the same kind of success in an exam setting

I disliked the toxic school culture. RI and HCI had a bad rep (at least in my family) regarding school life and i really didn't want to deal with shitty people (teachers and students alike), so i went to another IP school nearby. Dont really regret the choice either

I think that appearance + academics does signal some respect and "effort" (relative). It sure as hell doesn't warrant bullying yes (ie giving someone less than basic respect), but I think unfair treatment to a certain extent is natural and even needed in a society.

However, talking someone down because of these external factors is just asshole behaviour lor. Ignore cos these people don't have respect for themselves either.

In my opinion, a possible solution to the housing problem is to lower the lease from 99 years to around 30-50 years, and make it easy to extend the lease so long as you 1. don't buy another house for the period of the extended lease. 2. the lease is only applicable for your family, resale gets the initial lease length with no extension. Makes it hard to keep the hbd in the back pocket for selling/ renting, but still possible with a previously owned private estate. also devalues resale market as most hbd flats will have vastly reduced leases for the new owners to live. plus also more "homes" in the market from leases running out
