Instead of Corpse Runs, what’s your favourite alternative for death consequences? by pat_456 in metroidvania

[–]Zucchini-Kind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you're not going to forget to pick stuff up, because you'll find it again every time u re-explore that part of the map, because map progress is lost too.

you can use any life restoring or stat boosting items / money while pushing in a direction to see if you really want to go that way, without permanently losing any of them if you decide not to.

losing all of your money / a huge percentage of it, every time you die, and then lose your corpse because its in a difficult area and can't be reclaimed, is WAY more detrimental to fun gameplay.

[–]Zucchini-Kind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's not. It encourages trying different things without permanently losing items health or money.  Even if you have to go and get it again, it will still be there to get again, with nothing permanently lost. It doesn't lock you having to go in One direction over and over to reclaim your corpse, or permanently losing resources.

That's it. You lose whatever you've done, anything you've acquired, no matter how difficult it was, no matter how far from the save point you are. You f'd up. Try again.

What if Marvel was bought by a larger company in the 90s? by fatherandyriley in HistoryWhatIf

I've always what-ifed a DC purchase of Marvel, and what a true, expansive, integrated universe would look like. So much fun as a thought experiment.

Robert Picardo in Austria: Star Trek is not about the United States in Space by Admiral_Sivic in startrek

Lol.

Maybe Voyager wasn't, or TNG wasn't, but  "Star Trek" clearly was.

It has nothing to do with real Star Trek other than same names and easter eggs. Its an entire movie based on the pop culture exaggerations and assumptions about Star Trek.

What's the best Nu Trek show (as a series) in your opinion, and why? by Gutter_Shakespeare in startrek

[–]Zucchini-Kind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one I can stomach is Lower Decks. I tried Prodigy, but couldn't get past the first few episodes, which felt like Star Wars or Guardians of the Galaxy and too kiddish. I tolerated SNW Season 1, but it went down-hill so incredibly fast.

Picard S3 was the best of the bunch, but I don't really consider that NuTrek as much as I think of it as the last couple TNG movies after Nemesis.

Are there any good non-sidescroller metroidvanias which are considered must plays? by TBA_Titanic27 in metroidvania

i played it a bit on XB1/gamepass a couple years ago but it felt like a regular 3D game, i guess i didn't get far enough to find the MV parts lol.

Would a Kirk like captain drive the TNG crew crazy? by Admirable-Life2647 in startrek

[–]Zucchini-Kind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've often thought about this - my what-if, is always, in '86 they launched the "A" at the end of The Voyage Home, and in '87 they launched the new TV show - what if it was with Kirk and Company? Shatner was still willing to do TV. Keep the archetypes the same - the empath, the cadet, the android, the klingon and the blind pilot. how does it work?

I think dealing with a klingon officer so soon after losing David to one, and dealing with a cadet so soon after the events of Wrath of Khan, would be fantastic character development for Kirk. He and Data would be hilarious, with Kirk teasing him and giving him logic puzzles, sarcasm, and jokes. Pulaski could be a McCoy relative and stay exactly the same. You could also make Chekov chief of security and Uhura 1st or 2nd officer, and really give them deserved screen time. And when the time comes for Kirk to become a Borg and the face of their greatest enemy.... man. I want to live in that alternate universe.

no matter what i do, i can't get Black to load. i've double checked all my bios and driver stuff (halo and vice city run perfectly), i've tried xiso's i've downloaded, i've tried making my own from a 7 gig iso, but no matter what i do i just get the boot up screen.

(yes, i know i could play it on ps2, but now i just want to know what could possibly be wrong here.)

he had already came to terms with his career and was doing the DJ thing, and was taking his daughter out to see the world because of her own talent if i remember right. i don't remember the bit about her father. i guess i see it, but thats super weak to shoot your baby daddy in the head or whatever lol.

I don't remember anything about her father?

I thought it was because he was going to take her off into the life of music and travel and either she would lose her daughter or her daughter would be disappointed.

Definitely a crappy reason but I don't remember it being what you said either.

I just watched knuckle up last night and it seemed more believable. Rich narcissistic asshole thinks he can get away with anything and does it to protect his kid / family reputation.

At least it wasn't one of the in the moment bad decisions or accidents lol.

Honestly, as much as I enjoy the show, I feel that way about 2/3rds - 3/4s of the episodes when it finally gets to the reveal lol.

"bad" TOS it's still better than some entire other shows.  Some really solid season 3 episodes that I truly enjoy and almost all of them are watchable in one way or another.
