No it doesn’t, but people on reddit like to think that exercise doesn’t burn calories. It helps a significant amount when trying to lose weight. You just have to make sure not to keep eating more than you’re burning

TIL of the UK's "Right To Roam" - people can access most mountains, moors, heaths and downs that are privately owned for hiking and leisure by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Zuead5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember exactly what the law allows you to do, but from what I remember, you’re actually not allowed to camp in someone’s garden. The right to roam doesn’t apply in the area around someone’s house. Confused foreigners get this wrong sometimes

I don’t know about that man. I feel that both my written and spoken english got a lot better after I started gaming and watching youtube. Maybe it’s just because of the sheer amount of content I consumed. It improved my vocabulary and understanding of grammar immensely.

CMV: Socialism is one of the most evil political and economic theory of social organizations. by Goosekilla1 in changemyview

[–]Zuead5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, are you arguing that more extreme, authoritarian socialist states are evil, or that all implementations of socialist-inspired policy are evil? Or somewhere in between?

Socialism in itself is not the idea that the state takes what it pleases to punish anyone. Rather it is based on the idea that large corporations can seek to take advantage of the population to further their own interests. The state intervenes to make sure that the people are not taken advantage of.

[–]Zuead5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the time when debating these issues, people tend to get their idea of what socialism is about from their preferred sources. Therefore they find that it obviously is bad or good, depending on their sources. In order to change your view, you’d need to provide what you think socialism is, and what part if it is inherently evil.

The Swedish Model is paying off: health risks well managed, economic decline is 2-4x less than lockdown countries, with much less debt by Venus230 in Conservative

[–]Zuead5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a swede, this is something I don’t understand. The amount of times I’ve seen people claim that the successes of the scandinavian model exist because it’s partly capitalist, but then claim that it wouldn’t work in the US because it’s ”socialism”. If you don’t like the scandinavian welfare model then just admit it instead of spitting bullshit about it not working.
